Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree required, MBA preferred.
• 5-7 years' specialty store multi-unit management experience or store operations management experience preferred.
• Expert understanding of Retail statistics and finance.
• Experience managing seasonal pop-up or kiosk stores is highly desired.
• Demonstrate outstanding skills successfully building teams and partnerships to influence and drive results.
• Successful in negotiating and /or influencing business partners across all levels of the enterprise
• Proven leadership abilities, including ability to think strategically, develop operational strategies and determine long-term impact of decisions on the business.
• Solution oriented. Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
• A true operator, comfortable with hands on, obsessed with efficiency and credible with our field organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication. Effective presentation skills and comfortable presenting to business partners and executive level.
• Technical aptitude with strong understanding of Store POS/Back Office systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and Project Management Tools.
Description
Major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, assignments and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of executive management.
• Provides the leadership, direction and support necessary to achieve the Annual Budget and Operating Plan goals. Ensures all Retail expenses are in alignment with the Budget.
• Define project success criteria, leads and manages team to deliver required results in accordance with expectations. Recommends business solutions for optimizing profitability and productivity.
• Effectively influence/lead cross-functional teams comprised of HR, Retail Planning, Merchandising, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Loss Prevention, Transportation, Finance, IT and the field to successfully implement the Seasonal Store Program, Pilot Programs and other chain-wide Retail initiatives.
• Maintain and update Retail operations and training materials; work with District/Area Managers and Store Managers as warranted to ensure compliance.
• Responsible for effectively prioritizing and overseeing all aspects of Retail initiatives/projects through to execution utilizing project management tools.
• Negotiate contracts as needed.
• Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity and determine best course of action.
• Prepare and present clear, fact-based presentations to illustrate findings to Executive-level audiences and gain credibility based upon recommendations.
• Oversees communication for all Harry & David Retail. Manages, edits, and approves all field facing communication.
• Mentor, coach, develop Retail Corporate Team to achieve high level of productivity and contribution.
• Ensure a world class shopping experience exists for our customers through the effective execution of our Steps of Engagement; continually stay connected to the customer needs, anticipating changes, and preparing teams to meet consumer challenges.
• Identify industry best practices, competitor practices, and technology opportunities to improve Retail efficiency, execution, and reduce labor spend.
