Director of Public Relations, Enterprise Technology
What You'll Do
As the Director of Public Relations, Enterprise Technology you will focus on partnering with our top Technology Business Unit Executives to tell the story of Cisco’s product strategy externally. You will manage a team that works directly with our senior executives and collaborates across all Global Communications, Corporate Marketing and Global Sales teams to develop media and influencer strategy, executive platform and thought leadership stories. You will develop the essential communications plan to nurture and grow media and influencer positive perception of Cisco story. You will provide direct counsel to the leadership team on communications strategies to accelerate outcomes through compelling stories.
• Own and drive our technology communications strategy and influence key business partners
• Together with marketing business unit teams develop thought leadership programs around our major product innovation cycles
• Manage the largest PR budget and team in the Corporate PR group.
• Manage a team of full time employees, contractors, and PR agencies.
• Manage PR product launch calendar
• Develop PR launch plans for major innovations and product enhancements.
• Staff interviews with key media and our executives.
• Own the relationship with core tech trade publication such as Network World, InfoWorld, Ziff Davis, and many others.
• Support Cisco’s events with executive positioning and thought leadership around our solutions
• Build a meaningful connection for the Leadership team with media and influencers by developing innovative and creative experiences that uniquely amplify our message.
• Work collaboratively across Global Communications and Marketing to discover, develop and amplify compelling stories through the executive and leadership voices.
• Work as a key member of the PR Editorial Board in charge of critical decisions around content and resources alignment
• Lead and coordinate professional training of our Global Spokespeople to effectively tell Cisco’s Story to our global audience
Success in this role will require the right combination of strong essential communications skills, an excellent executive presence; an insatiable curiosity for finding stories (wherever they may be hiding), and of course, an aptitude for telling those stories across multiple communications channels and media.
Who You'll Work With
We are a team of more than 90 best-in-class Global Corporate Communications professionals. The PR team is responsible for leading Cisco’s corporate, technology and go-to-market PR programs, as well as crafting and delivering clear and compelling narratives that grab the attention of media influencers. You will partner with a local and virtual team of communicators who are focused on this important chapter of our story.
Who You Are
You’re a senior level communications leader who thrives on taking the complex and making it meaningful, understandable, compelling, and personal. You are considered a media relations rock star! In addition, you are a master of strategic planning and have a proven track record of managing high performing teams.
You have 10+ years of professional experience in Media Relations or Technical PR (specifically for enterprise product launches and tech stories).
You have experience advising/working directly with senior executives, are a strong collaborator, and have the ability to partner globally across a mix of constituents and organizations. You have the imagination and skills to activate our leaders to discover and share important and inspiring technology stories.
You have demonstrated success in developing, refining and spreading a message and building relationships with key media and influencers. You will have the accountability for the technology narratives and ensure all spokespersons are trained, align to and amplify the core messages.
You possess a high level of emotional intelligent, executive presence and influencing skills.
You are outcomes and data focused. You have the ability to leverage data to navigate varying opinions and gain support for the most compelling approach and narrative.
