DESCRIPTION
The human voice is fundamentally changing how people engage with and through technology. Alexa stands at the forefront of this change, and behind it is a dedicated team of inventors and builders all focused on a shared mission.
We are seeking a Creative Director to join the team and lead the Alexa Skills Kit Customer Experience design organization. In this role, you will develop a team of GUI and VUI UX Designers, UX Writers, and User Researchers. You will spearhead initiatives focused on how every day customers can create (blueprints.amazon.com), discover (amazon.com/skills), and use skills throughout their lives. You will define and deliver the design vision for a complex set of products across multiple interfaces, some of which will be the first of their kind, for several distinct customer cohorts. You will have a global impact for Alexa and for Amazon.
If you are someone who is never satisfied with the status quo, someone who sees a revolutionary new technology like Alexa and thinks how far we still have to go to deliver on its full promise, someone who is energized by solving practical, real-world challenges while also imagining and articulating a north star to guide others, then this is the role for you.
We are seeking someone who will:
• Invent. If we were happy with the status quo, Alexa would never have been built
• Inspire, mentor, and nurture a team of designers and researchers
• Work cross functionally with product, technology, and design peers throughout Amazon to develop a vision for the Skills experience.
• Implement mechanisms (roadmap planning, resource planning, design reviews, reporting, auditing, etc…) that allow your team to thrive while delivering against a shared vision.
• Initiate and manage user experience research and testing processes
• Develop insights from real usage data to inform UX optimization efforts
• Drive the development and communication of design guidelines and patterns
• Create pattern libraries, templates, and tools for a variety of users on our platform
• Develop an informed set of core values regarding user experience, technology, and business communication and present them concisely
• Evangelize on behalf of skills creators and customers and work with other design and product peers to ensure the skills customer experience raises the bar
