Director, Business Development - Scale

The AWS Scale Business Development (BD) team is a cross functional organization dedicated to building on the tremendous feature sets of our largest and highly complex services. We are looking for a seasoned Managing Director of Business Development to help define, execute and scale global market development across our core business lines. This is a unique opportunity to build and deliver on a global strategy to help enterprises, SMBs, and startups along their journey to adopting our cloud technologies.
The successful candidate will be a broad leader with a diverse skill set – part market maker, part operator and part general manager. You'll be operating in a multifaceted way with our business leaders, marketing teams, field sales/services, and most importantly, you will be working side by side with customers early and often to incorporate their voice into our product features and services. In other words, this role will require working with the overall ecosystem to help secure lighthouse customers, drive top-line revenue for existing services, and develop strategic partnerships. This is a truly exciting opportunity to own the global go-to-market definition and scaling opportunities for established AWS services.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 15+ years of experience in business development, market development strategic partnerships, or program/product management relates to infrastructure and cloud technology
• Broad global experience
• Experience working with product/service development teams and their outbound functions
• Proven success in managing leaders and setting the stage for your large, diverse, and deeply talented teams to succeed
• Experienced and confident working with Sr. Stakeholders and Executive teams
• Track record of building rapport with senior customer executives (e.g. CEO, CIO, CTO), building close relationships and closing large revenue accounts
• Ability to successfully negotiate complex deals with customers and partners
• Motivated self-starter, proactive and action-oriented
• Strategic problem solving and well developed collaboration skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• MBA/Technical Master’s Degree
• You've not only carried quotas, you've consistently exceeded them by doing the right thing for your customer
• Experience working in a training and enablement organization
