Global Growth and Capital is a newly formed team and will fall under the larger Brand Expedia (BEX), Customer, Capital and Markets (CMC) organization. With Brand Expedia’s significant scale and global footprint, it is important that we best understand the drivers and improve the returns on our capital to achieve sustainable growth and profitability.
This newly established team will consist of smart, data savvy professionals who are passionate for seeking the answers to sustainable, long term growth through application of science, analytics and applied customer growth theories. The team will be responsible for developing, handling and optimizing both a Portfolio Investment Framework to inform mid and long term investment decision-making, and Capital Allocation Engine to steer operational capital decisions as part of our Trading rhythm of business.
Being a part of the global team, You will play a lead role within the CMC organization to develop and track key growth initiatives actioned by the various Market teams around the globe, contributing as needed to the augmentation of global, standardized standard methodologies.
You will have a real passion for solving technical problems, can use data with ease and have a strategic mindset, not to mention excellent leadership and partnership skills.
This position can be based in Singapore, London or Bellevue.
Position Responsibilities:
• Design, lead and implement analytics and workstreams that lead to more informed, smarter capital investment decisions across Brand Expedia (BEX)
• Further the BEX organization’s understanding of Capital and Growth drivers, through data modelling, experimentation, and application of Customer Growth Theories
• Responsible for the development of a new BEX Portfolio Investment Framework, providing optimal capital investment strategies and scenarios to drive expected business growth outcomes for both top and bottom line
• Operationalize ongoing Capital and Growth insights to build a constantly improving set of business processes and capital decisions within long term planning, and day to day trading
• Develop a Capital Allocation Engine that supports the business Trading cadence, and strives for real time decision-making on both incremental investment and pull back scenarios
• Provide transparency to the BEX organization on the allocation of the next dollar of capital, and required trade-offs
• Drive thought leadership in how we account for consumers as part of our Investment and Trading decisions
• Identify and operationalize key capital sources as true capital and growth levers including, but not limited to Pricing and Value to Customer (ie service and policy updates)
• Work closely with Finance and the CMC leadership to maintain a pulse of near term business performance across Markets, Lines of Business and Channels
• Play a leading role within CMC to maintain the business rhythm and updates to "How We Grow the BEX Portfolio and Markets", being accountable for the overall story of our Global Growth initiatives in key Business Forums, in partnership with Market and Line of Business Leads
Required Skills & Experience:
• An experienced leader with at least 10 years of relevant experience at a similar capacity with the ability to lead, manage, influence & mobilize multiple partners in a highly-matrixed and dynamic work environment.
• Highly capable in demonstrating keen understanding of the key growth drivers of ecommerce businesses, operations and capital levers, and the ability to translate them into executable Capital strategy and initiatives that ultimately drive efficient, sustainable Market share growth.
• Strong analytical and financial skills, securing and comparing data from multiple sources (internal and external) to better inform Capital Investment decisions; taking data-driven, analytical approach to complex business issues, and draw upon business insight even when information is incomplete
• Display high standards for individual, team, and organizational accomplishment; tenaciously work to meet or exceed challenging goals; derive satisfaction from goal achievement and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels and organization. Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas to various partners including Brand Leadership team, and influence/mobilize others to take actions towards common business goals.
• Strong people management and development: Experience successfully leading, engaging and developing high-performing teams. Develops high potential talent, behaviors and skills within team to ensure successful performance across highly matrixed and global teams.
• Technical Skills: Highly proficient in Excel, data modelling. Knowledge in SQL is a plus.
• Other Preferred Experience:
• Validated experience of operating within a business trading environment, influencing business investment decisions
• Proven experience in or with a marketing organization, including incremental testing, attribution modelling
• MBA holder is preferred
