From tax to treasury and FP&A to A/P, our teams connected to Finance handle monetary complexities at a global scale in a new business category that continues to expand. As a conglomeration of number-savvy professionals who encompass multiple teams, they ensure everything from our month-end close processes to our P&L ownership and SG&A are on point. Our Tax team is responsible for the worldwide tax compliance, provision calculations, and planning for the company. We have it all – technical issues, process development, technology implementation, and communication needs to name a few. You will have access to some of the top authorities in the field as we complete each project.
As a Tax Analyst, you will join our rapidly-growing Tax team based in Chicago, IL. We partner closely with internal teams to identify and analyze the innovative activities and tax implications of our various business channels as the global e-commerce and mobile markets are continuously evolving. You will take on challenging projects that impact Groupon's worldwide effective tax rate and operations. Additionally, you will work in matters ranging from tax planning and compliance, transfer pricing, and tax audit matters.

You’ll spend time on the following:
• Prepare calculations related to federal and state tax returns
• Assist in the tax provision process, both for US GAAP and statutory accounting purposes
• Participate in tax examinations and audits
• Maintain the team’s tax documentation
• Research and conclude on the tax implications of business transactions undertaken by Groupon
• Prepare written memorandums to document/support audit activity and research conclusions
• Prepare tax models and assist with miscellaneous tax reporting activities, including state franchise registrations, and forms 1099-K
• Using tax compliance software, like OneSource
We’re excited about you if you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• 1+ years of public accounting, consulting, or equivalent corporate experience a plus
• CPA certification preferred, MST is a plus
• You're comfortable with MS Office, with Excel being your secret favorite
• Knowledge of tax compliance software is preferred
• You can juggle multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines without breaking a sweat
• You're a details person with a penchant for preparing meticulously accurate work
• You can switch seamlessly from working independently to working as part of a team
• You're enthusiastic, adaptable, and see challenges as an opportunity to grow
• You thrive in an often-times ambiguous environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
