Director, U.S. Tax Reporting
Expedia
Leader of the U.S. Tax Reporting Team, managing a team of federal, state and international tax specialists to ensure seamless U.S. tax reporting of international and U.S. operations for both federal and state purposes. Pivotal role for year-end tax provision preparation, including responsibility for the year-end current provision, review of deferred tax balances, and review of return to provision adjustments.
General:
As the U.S. Tax Reporting Team leader, you will help to achieve goals and priorities in coordination with the goals of the Expedia Tax Department and alignment with the broader goals of the Expedia organization. You will establish direction, goals, and priorities in managing the U.S. tax compliance process, including book / tax difference calculations for international operations, and ensure accuracy in U.S. Tax Reporting.
You will work with the Global Tax Provision team to provide support for year-end tax provision calculation and reporting.
Financial Reporting:
• Support year-end financial reporting process
• Review and approve U.S. income tax book / tax differences, including estimates for international operations such as Subpart F, foreign tax credit, IRC §956 and other international tax considerations
• Review and approve FIN 48 reserves calculations related to book / tax differences for domestic and international tax calculations
• Review and approve year-end current provision calculations related to book / tax differences for domestic and international tax calculations and state tax expense
• Review and approve year-end deferred tax balances, including deferred balance proof
• Review and approve provision to return reconciliation
Compliance
• Direct federal and state income tax compliance processes, including preparation and review of Forms 5471, 8858, 8865 and 1118
• Supervise federal and state income tax returns
• Supervise federal and state estimated income tax payments
• Gain recognition agreement administration and monitoring
• Review and approve preparation of taxable income and cash tax forecasts, make business decisions regarding tax elections affecting domestic and foreign tax attributes
• Maintain documentation for book/tax difference positions

◦ Review and approve calculations for international tax consequences of mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring

◦ Lead evolution of technology tools and support technology enhancements
◦ Manage technology implementation (e.g., SharePoint, Oracle, Fixed Assets)
• Opportunities – Identify income tax opportunities and exposures
• Support ongoing process transformation while ensuring adherence to controls and policies
Administrative:
• Adhere to Expedia’s core competencies
• Expand Expedia Tax presence (e.g., internal and external presentations, establish powerful relationships inside and outside of Tax, executive presence)
• Manage and coach team members, including resource optimization, workload management, team morale, and technical/professional development
• Monitor legislative updates and technical guidance
• Meet CPE requirements
Qualifications:
• BA/BS and/or Master’s degree in Accounting
• CPA license
• At least 12+ years of experience of public accounting experience with one of the “Big Four” firms or equivalent experience
• Comprehensive technical skills related to general accounting principles and Federal and State income tax concepts
• Experience as a manager including supervising teams to build an atmosphere of trust; providing technical training and mentorship to other team members; coaching staff including providing timely and meaningful feedback.
• Tax software experience, preferably Corptax
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• You should demonstrate the ability to utilize tax knowledge and previous experience to make valuable contributions and assist in meeting the department’s objectives while working in a dynamic, team oriented, rapidly changing, and fast-growing organization
