About the Role:
As Design Director, you will be responsible for leading our regional design team to meet the quality, cost, and speed objectives of our Enterprise group. In the pursuit of delivering a best in class product, you will oversee an interdisciplinary team that includes architects, interior designers, engineers, and technologists. With this in mind, you must be adaptable in your management style and capable of communicating with people with a variety of backgrounds and skill levels.
Key to success in this role is establishing a successful relationship with both the regional Project Delivery Director and Construction Director. Together, you will establish the context for the development team to successfully serve our Enterprise clients, achieve regional project goals, and deliver on our mission of producing the best workplaces in the world.
The position requires a proven track record as an exceptional manager, an understanding of our brand at its deepest level, and demonstrable expertise across many design disciplines. Particularly important to the role is the ability to harness the strengths of your regional team, both on the individual and group level.
The Design Director reports to the Regional Head of Project Delivery.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee effective planning and delivery of Pre-Design and Design phases, including Due Diligence, Programming, Layouts, and Finish sign offs for assigned region.
• Manage design resources to ensure region is properly staffed to achieve goals. Analyze future pipeline and assess potential resourcing needs for team to achieve defined regional goals.
• Ensure projects are designed and delivered on budget while meeting our clients’ creative and business goals.
• Exhibit excellent client relationship building skills. Build trust and solid lines of communication with all client levels up through the C-suite.
• Navigate challenging situations and ensure all aspects of a project stay on track.
• Have an eye on towards business expansion amongst your own client base and with prospects that would enhance the Enterprise business portfolio.
• Be an innovative thinker and always look for ways of improving our product offering and on-going refinement of our working processes. Be a key member in the definition of our product’s future design direction by working collaboratively with the Product Development team.
• Exhibit efficient decision-making skills. Steward excellent team communication and consultant coordination as necessary to support project design and delivery.

• Prioritize and Be Organized - Overseeing many projects, it is important that you understand your own and your team’s workflows, and are able to prioritize and work efficiently. As you will will wear many hats--project team member, manager, product expert--so you must feel comfortable and excited about getting involved at many levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years professional design experience in high quality commercial or hospitality projects (mixed-use residential, cultural, and institutional experience also will be considered)
• Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering
• Knowledge and experience working with building codes, ADA, zoning, and other applicable regulations
• Comprehensive knowledge of building materials and construction details
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Schematic Design, Design Development, permitting and Construction Documentation
• Ability to confidently review and markup the above documents
• Solid understanding of project budgeting and scheduling
• Demonstrable experience coordinating design documentation with external consultants and vendors
• Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills; exceptional presentation skills that consistently champion the work
• Excellent decision-making skills and a highly resourceful problem solver
• Self-directed with a high level of initiative and a ‘can do’ attitude,
• Strong time management skills and experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in the following programs: Revit, all things Google, Bluebeam Revu
