Job Responsibilities
• Creative photo and video art direction to the photo studio in regards to concepts, story narrative, execution, approvals and post production
• Assist the Director of Photo Art in developing concepts and designs for realistic photo sets that follow current trends
• Provide day-to-day creative production of lifestyle and silhouette photography, through art direction, set design, photo styling, photo composition, lighting and narrative, ensuring business and creative goals of each shoot are met while maintaining exceptional brand style and visual standards to enhance the Overstock customer experience
• Constant interaction with individual sets, shoots, products, set design, styling and props
• Develop creative pre-production shot lists for the photo and video team to implement
• Work closely with set teams to ensure that photo style guides and standards for creative are followed consistently among team members
• Coordinate with the Director of Photo Art regularly to ensure that the creative direction for upcoming projects can be realized.
• Assist team leads and managers in evaluating the skills and aptitudes of each member, ensuring that teams are adequately staffed and that team members are trained, mentored and given opportunities for advancement
• Work closely with the Director of Photo Art to understand the creative requirements for unique image assets through art direction, set design, photo styling, photo composition, lighting and narrative
• Communicate closely with marketing and merchandising to ensure creative briefs are being accurately translated and that unique photo assets meet and exceed business goals
• Pitch, concept, develop, execute, art direct to final layout, obtain buy-off/approval, and present final photo assets to partners, business owners and senior management
• Create and pull resource material for concepts and mood boards to clearly communicate ideas
• Demonstrate strong time management skills and correct use of resources
• Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management.
• Follow legal policies as directed.
Job Requirements
• 8+ years experience on-set photo art direction, with significant history styling lifestyle, home environments and products for commercial photography/video productions; including managing creative projects and professionals
• Experience art directing video for social and product (storyboarding background a plus)
• Art direction experience creating concepts, layouts, collaborating with photographers, stylists, set builders, producers, post production and other design creatives
• Solid understanding of a stylist’s role, overseeing consistency in brand, design and trends, and be able to jump in to style a set; as well as the photographers role with composition and lighting
• Current on industry trends and styles in home décor, fashion and lifestyle
• Retail experience mandatory; agency experience on retail account considered
• Experience with one or more marketing disciplines in a high-volume environment required (catalog, advertising, direct mail, packaging, sales promotions, etc.)
• Must have up-to-date portfolio showcasing your creative vision and photographic eye
• Ability to display flexibility on with scheduling on location shoots and during times of peak shooting
• photography art direction emphasis or equivalent in a closely related field.
• Expert level knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Bridge and Illustrator
• Advanced knowledge of Capture One software and tethered-shooting workflows
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Mac proficient with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, web and database functionality required
• Efficient and effective storyboarding required

Education
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
