DESCRIPTION
The Global Business Intelligence Team is a core part of Audible’s mission to unleash the power of the spoken word. We use data and complex quantitative methods to bring the joy of Audible to more listeners, understand how they experience our product, and ensure that we serve them premium content. We partner with business stakeholders and senior leadership to ask and answer challenging questions that inform Audible’s strategic decisions and direction.
The BI Solutions Team, as part of the Global Business Intelligence team, covers the key foundational components: Reporting, Data, and BI Tools. We are looking for a new Head of the BI Solutions team who is passionate about using data and insights to help drive informed decisions for the customer and the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• You and your team are responsible to define our vision and strategy for our BI Solutions infrastructure. You translate the strategy into well-specified requirements. You work hand in hand with our Data Warehouse team as well as the Product Managers on the implementation.
• Your primary customers are business stakeholders around the globe and across all business functions (Marketing, Content Creation and Acquisition, Tech/Product), who rely on reliable and relevant data to make informed business decisions. You are able to quickly understand their business to identify needs and opportunities with respect to existing and new BI Solutions.
• Success is defined as being able to change the way our business operates: Making better, faster, bolder and more customer-focused decisions; distill insights from data, and take advantage of these insights in their daily operations and strategy definition; use data as a competitive advantage and lever to improve our customer journey.
• You will lead a growing team of c. 10 BI Solutions Architects and Data Analysts.
Reporting: We maintain and develop a comprehensive metrics framework that allows our internal customers to track their performance against our strategic company goals. We invest heavily into self-service and automation, including a MicroStrategy-based reporting solution. We create robust and scalable Data Models, and develop user interfaces such as data visualizations, dashboards and reports. We believe that a reporting can be a key strategic lever if we focus on the right input metrics.
Data: You partner closely with our Tech/Product team owning the Data Instrumentation and Quality: You identify opportunities, and define and help prioritize business requirements for new data to be instrumented. You support initiatives designed to ensure the reliability of the existing data. This includes financial, transactional, behavioral, as well as tracking data at Amazon scale.
Tools: Our goal is to establish a reliable and powerful ecosystem of BI tools, facilitating both self-serve among the business owners, we well as advanced analytics and industry-leading data visualization by our Analyst community. You identify potential gaps, select, recommend and implement the right tool for the job, organize user training, and maintain the tools in close collaboration with our Data Warehouse team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience, at least 5+ years of leading teams
• Proven track record of successfully implementing BI Solutions in an agile environment, across the entire project lifecycle
• Ability to communicate successfully both with business stakeholders as well as developers, to identify and understand business requirements and translate them into well-specified requirements
• Strong analytical thinking skills, ability to deconstruct problems and define and implement solutions
• Familiarity with SQL, ETL, data architecture and instrumentation, and report building
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Practical experience of implementing Data Exploration tools, preferably MicroStrategy, in an ecommerce or consulting environment
• Experience with Redshift and related AWS services
• Advanced knowledge in SQL and scripting language
