The Enterprise Risk and Security team is tasked with keeping Expedia Group Safe and Secure on many fronts. The core concepts of Prevention, Containment, Detection and Remediation are applied to combat various forms of fraud, data and physical security threats. A strong base of Prevention avoids issues and Containment provides a basic defense while facilitating business efficiencies. Swift and precise Detection is the key to limiting impact and through Remediation we will close gaps at a speed appropriate for the level of risk and needs of the business.
As the leader of Expedia's security operations organization, within the Enterprise Risk and Security team, you will direct the efforts of 90 employees distributed across sites in Bellevue, India, Chicago, London and Prague.
You will oversee functions including; identity and access management, security operations center, vulnerability management, trust and safety, secure design, physical security, containment operations, data science, technology and product management.
This Senior Director will have oversight of the security operations function ensuring the safety of websites, applications, data warehouses, data centers, and a rapid coordinated response to any threats for 200 plus brands worldwide. This leader will be responsible for building a cadence of rigorous performance improvement in the security operations organization.
Responsibilities
• You will lead all aspects of operations for the Security group, the functional groups within Security include 24x7 Detection and Security operations, containment, remediation, physical security and trust & safety management.
• Lead a globally distributed operations team, handle the hiring, development and retention of direct reports and analysts.
• Run the quality and training teams to support continuous improvement and training/onboarding of new analysts for all the functional teams within the group.
• Encourage and drive the team to achieve departmental performance criteria, including predetermined metrics and goals.
• Define and develop the security operations strategy to align with the broader organization’s strategy and goals.
• Effectively communicate strategic department vision and key initiatives to team run the implementation of these initiatives through to completion.
• Develop relationships with key partners across Expedia Group, including the security technology team, product management and other eCommerce Planform and Brand teams.
• Focus on continually improving the operation’s efficiency and quality.
• Lead the team in developing capacity models to forecast resource needs and manage to the budget forecasts.
• Provide planning support for 2 - 3-year view on technology and/or operational strategies for the business unit.
• 7+ years of security experience designing and leading large corporate security, risk management, and other related programs.
• 10+ years’ experience in an eCommerce operations or other relevant environment demonstrating a positive career trajectory.
• Shown track-record of success in leading a large operations team in a multi branded enterprise operating in eCommerce or other significant operations organization of scale.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross functional groups including technology, data analytics, product and program management.
• Experience in working in or leading in the security domain.
• Security industry accreditation
• Able to deep dive into the data and synthesize into actionable insights for the organization.
• Experience interacting with, advising and influencing senior-level management, accomplished with presentations.
• Strong people management skills and shown ability to successfully lead up, down, and across the organization, comfortable with people at all levels.
