Join the team that is building the cutting edge low latency, high performance, horizontally scalable cloud based storage services to support persistent needs of the cloud database. We are looking for an experienced manager to lead the core storage for the database engine development team at Salesforce.
Candidate must have strong distributed storage systems, database storage experience, and system programming background to work with a team that is responsible for architecting, developing and testing the cloud storage for next generation of RDBMS. You will lead and grow a team of world class, highly motivated storage software engineers and database experts. Your team will need to deliver highly complex products with the scalability and performance needed to match the staggering growth of our service.
You will need familiarity with distributed storage systems, database internals, high availability, replication, scalability and performance. You must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and have a track record of hiring top performers and building a highly collaborative team to deliver successful enterprise products.
Responsibilities:
• Recruiting top talents.
• Develop and grow talent in the team.
• Motivate and align team members with business and project goals.
• Be the scrum master and project manager, help team organize and prioritize.
• Work with CTO and Product Owners to define deliverables, priority and staffing needs.
• Develop roadmap and milestones and help team execute to plan.
• Constantly improving culture, communications, and process.
• Take initiative to challenge and improve status quo.
• Establish mature development, quality assurance, release, and deployment process.
Qualifications:
• BS or higher degree in Computer Science
• 5+ years management experience of at least 10 engineers working on a customer facing enterprise product.
• 7+ years hands on individual contributor in system or database internals programming.
• Technical expertise with distributed storage systems, database replication, high availability, highly concurrent and scalable enterprise products.
• Proven track record of delivering and supporting large scale enterprise products and services.
• Innovator with good ideas, strong problem solving and communication skills, and a results oriented attitude.
• Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic agile team environment.
Desired Skills:
• Service owner for successful enterprise product.
• Experience with distributed storage systems like Apache BookKeeper, Ceph.
• Experience building a high-performance large-scale storage system.
• Experience with building storage systems for databases.
• Experience with resolving customer issues.
