Global Director of Security - Health and Safety
Overview
The Global Security Director (GSD) is responsible for directing all aspects of the Corporate Security and Safety Programs at Akamai Technologies. The main purpose of this job is to plan and direct the security/safety function under the direction of the Global Director of Facilities Operations. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing the strategic and tactical security and safety planning for Akamai. In addition, the GSD will be responsible for developing a proactive, predictive risk environment, identifying significant security/safety risks and developing progressive mitigation strategies. Ability to liaison at the most senior levels of federal, state and local law enforcement and corporate partners will be critical in this role.
As a the Global Security Director you will be responsible for,
• Senior security executive responsible for all physical security operations and directs planning for security operations and activities throughout the company, including physical security, incident management, executive protection, threat assessments/mitigation, safety risk identification/support, and awareness programs.
• Develops senior strategic relationships and acts as liaison between Akamai and law enforcement agencies, emergency management agencies and leadership at Federal, state and local levels.
• Develop and implement a proactive, predictive risk strategy combining early identification of significant security and safety risks within the company with a proactive mitigation and ongoing surveillance program.
• Acts as a leader in all workplace violence responses, with a specific focus on awareness, education and training for the workforce.
• Cultivates skilled security leaders within the company by assigning responsibility, managing accountability and providing opportunities for growth
• Directly accountable for meeting financial and operating objectives of security projects and operations within the company.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in area relevant to the security field or 15 plus years of experience.
Required Skills
• This role requires comprehensive understanding of corporate security and the candidate must have extensive experience managing security and safety programs within the high-tech industry10+ years combined experience managing personnel and process in the military, local law enforcement or corporate security environments.
• Extensive experience with progressive security risk management processes and techniques related to physical security, investigations, threat assessment and mitigation.
• Understanding of the complexities of software and networking; how the systems work together within the physical security environment.
• Ability to effectively manage large complex projects.
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously to completion.
• Comprehensive understanding of incident reporting, case management, international travel safety
• Extensive experience developing and maintaining budgets and contracts.
Desired Skills
• Knowledge of International, Federal, state or local regulations relevant to the company.
• Knowledge of the Content Delivery Industry.
• Deep knowledge of incident management, access control and video management systems.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise security risk management.
• Working knowledge of OSHAS 18001 Standard.
• Knowledge of Traveler Safety Program Development * Certification in related security fields (CPP, PCI, PSP, CFE)
• The ideal candidate for this role will have exceptional communication skills and a high level of executive presence.
