DESCRIPTION

Maybe you love connecting someone to just the right new podcast based on his areas of curiosity and exploration? Do you geek out over technology? You just might be the type of person we are looking for. Audible, is seeking a Director, Content and Release Marketing to drive new release and content discovery and engagement on Amazon. This is a newly created, senior individual contributor role that works broadly across the Audible organization. This role is based out of Newark, NJ at the Audible Headquarters.
This person will create processes for launching and marketing Audible audiobooks on the Amazon platform that drive customer engagement of current members and acquisition of new subscribers. Within this scope is launching marquee ‘Audible Originals’ and connecting customers with undiscovered content that matches their interests. You will need to be a true end-to-end owner; driving recommendations through a mixture of data and subject matter expertise, building and executing strong marketing plans, and measuring and learning from your results.
A successful candidate will have a high degree of organization and focus on details, while simultaneously thinking creatively to develop big ideas. He or she will also possess great project management and influencing skills to work across multiple teams to achieve success.
A person with passion for reading, spoken word and/or literature; who loves to help people connect with just the right content for their interests, will find intrinsic value in this opportunity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop an operating framework that efficiently uses audiobooks as a core stream of marketing on Amazon.
• Build processes that identify the highest performing titles and content for marketing on the Amazon platform.
• Create and execute big plans that result in broad engagement with major new releases.
• Tailor content recommendations based on segmentation and/or personalization to introduce customers and prospective customers to the perfect pieces of undiscovered content just for them.
• Work cross functionally, in an ongoing fashion with Audible teams such as: Creative; Marquee; Content, Discovery and Engagement; Brand; CRM; and Operations to implement strategy and launch initiatives.
• Monitor KPIs of testing and performance, optimizing and pivoting as necessary to determine best practices and achieve success.
• Regularly communicate with various levels of the organization including Senior Leadership.
• Lead title specific marketing on Amazon.

• Uses strong judgment to identify successful tent pole titles and determine appropriate levels of marketing support.
• Has the ability to interpret trends and forecast bestselling titles through immersion in data and customer focused curiosity.
• Loves finding insights in customer data, and using it to customize content recommendations at the segment or individual level.
• Flexes between long term strategic planning to tangible immediate performance.
• Identifies opportunities, including automation and scaling, through process development and iteration.
• Is a self-starter who can determine deliverables, anticipate challenges, articulate strategy to leadership and move fast to deliver through digital marketing.
• Must be confident in developing a north star and independently navigating that vision within an organization that is highly collaborative, with multiple stakeholders and priorities.
• Has the ability to drive initiatives to completion utilizing project management techniques and by building strong internal relationships.
• Uses data to influence and prioritize, demonstrating resilience in every project.
• Has a strong learning orientation, measuring the results of each initiative and determining how to make the next one better.
• Ensures the highest quality of work through calendar planning, competitive analysis, best practice seeking within Amazon and Audible and thorough audits of the customer experience.
• Interfaces with global counterparts and shares best practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10-12 years of experience in content/product release digital marketing, channel management and online merchandising, ideally in the media space.
• Track record of success in driving engagement with major new releases, as well as more niche-focused media.
• Proficient with digital analytics; retrieving, analyzing and developing insights.
• Supreme prioritization skills, managing multiple projects at varying points in their process simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable with using technology to communicate (ie. email, IM, Video Conference,).
• Ability to operate independently and successfully with a remote manager.
• Frequent travel to Seattle as agreed upon with manager.
• Committed to own professional development, with a desire to continually learn new skills and tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• BA/BS Degree (Marketing, Communications or Public Relations)
• MBA
• Familiarity with SQL based queries.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Microstrategy (or equivalent)
