About the role
Zillow Group is looking for an experienced Director, Revenue Accounting to join the Finance team! We are a fast-paced and rapidly-growing organization where you can make a difference to our business by using your experience in accounting, analysis, compliance, and reporting.
The Director, Revenue Accounting reports directly to the Senior Director, Accounting and is responsible for leading the revenue accounting team, advising on revenue processes and policies, managing billing and revenue systems, and working with cross-functional teams to meet company goals. This position effectively communicates with all levels of management and knows how to interact with various team leaders in order to drive cooperation and problem solving.
Other responsibilities include:
• Manage and mentor team members at various career stages
• Set tone and cadence for monthly revenue close process, ensuring the delivery of financial information in accordance with ASC 606
• Review high risk journal entries and reconciliations
• Review monthly and quarterly account analyses and fluctuations
• Evaluate and drive the implementation of efficient and scalable billing / revenue processes and system integrations
• Partner with product and sales teams to plan for new business initiatives; advise on the design and implementation of scalable operational accounting processes and systems to support these initiatives
• Evaluate policies and procedures to support best in class AR processes
• Develop and maintain the Company’s revenue recognition policies, procedures, and related documentation to include strong internal controls in accordance with SOX 404 and GAAP
About the team
We are a team of accountants who own revenue accounting functions for existing product lines and implementation of financial processes for new products and revenue streams. We work directly with Engineering, Sales, Ad Operations and Corporate Applications teams to design, implement, and test effective and scalable processes, internally and externally developed billing engines and financial reports for various product lines.
Who you are
• BA/BS with a concentration in Accounting
• CPA, with strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 606
• 10+ years’ experience in public accounting, mid-to-large sized tech, or high-growth company
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to think conceptually and make effective decisions
• Experience leading a team
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings and interact at all levels of the organization
• Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving and data driven organization
• Experience managing and/or participating in a monthly close process, a plus
