Director, Strategic Finance
With the creation of a function focused on Strategy, we are looking for a Director to join our newly launched team that will operate like an internal consulting group. WeWork has reinforced its commitment to use data, analytics and test and learn to drive both efficiency and growth in the core business. This leader will be a critical thought partner and change agent, working across the organization.
Reporting to the VP of Strategic Finance, the Strategic Finance Director will apply structured problem-solving skills and knowledge of real estate and finance to develop strategies and lead cross-functional initiatives that drive value across the organization. Key projects will focus primarily on growth, innovation, new business models, and operational efficiency across WeWork’s global operations. This role will work closely with senior leaders across the organization, during both strategy definition as well as execution, the Director will partner closely with WeWork’s Digital, Real Estate, Design, Construction, Sales and Marketing.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional problem-solving skills, outstanding commercial acumen, refined communication skills, demonstrated leadership and influencing skills, resilience, and tenacity. Multiple years of Strategy Consulting experience at tier-one firm is mandatory. The Director will have a small team of direct reports and will serve as a “change agent.”
Key responsibilities
• Partner with the Digital, Real Estate, Design, Construction, Sales and Marketing teams to identify new business opportunities and develop growth strategies that leverage our global position, unique capabilities, unmatched scale and resources, and brand equity
• Build team’s reputation as a step-change thinker, action-driver, and value-creator by providing action-oriented solutions to complex questions
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of our capital, operating expenses, and SG&A expenses as we scale the business globally
• Perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis to support conclusions and influence decisions, including market segmentation and sizing, market trend and competitive landscape analyses, client portfolio analyses, business and financial modeling, operations analyses, etc.
• Develop analytical frameworks and conduct analyses that simplify complex problems and develop business cases to inform strategic tradeoffs and decision making
• Succinctly synthesize analyses into compelling presentations that identify key trends, insights, and implications while aligning stakeholders on action plan
• Deliver high-impact presentations for senior-level executive audiences to influence action on strategic recommendations
• Translate strategy into specific business initiatives and develop tools to measure and evaluate them
Qualifications and Skills
• 5+ years of work experience in tier-one Strategy Consulting Firm required
• Demonstrated track record of leading and influencing teams with strong interpersonal and team-building skills
• Strong bias towards action
• Exceptional commercial acumen and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort in dealing with ambiguity
• Authenticity, resilience and empathy are all key attributes for success
• At least 8 years of working experience with desire for a global career in general management, strategy or finance
• MBA from leading school
