Are you a database expert, or passionate about building database technology that supports relentless growth and innovation? Do you take pride in delivering high quality mission critical enterprise products? Join the team that is building the database of the cloud. We are looking for an experienced manager to lead the core database engine development team at Salesforce.
Candidate must have strong database internals or system programming background to work with a team that is responsible for architecting, developing and testing RDBMS at scale. You will lead and grow a team of world class, highly motivated software engineers and database experts. Your team will need to deliver highly complex products with the scalability and performance needed to match the staggering growth of our service.
You will need familiarity with database internals, distributed systems, HA/DR, upgrade, performance, scalability. You must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and have a track record of hiring top performers and building a highly collaborative team to deliver successful enterprise products.
Responsibilities:
• Recruiting top talents.
• Develop and grow talent in the team.
• Motivate and align team members.
• Be the scrum master and project manager, help the team organize and prioritize.
• Work with Product Owners to define deliverables, priority and staffing needs
• Develop roadmap and milestones and help team execute to plan.
• Constantly improving culture, communications, and process.
• Take initiative to challenge and improve status quo.
• Establish mature development, quality assurance, release, and deployment processes.
Qualifications:
• BS or higher degree in Computer Science.
• 10+ years hands on individual contributor in system or database internals programming.
• 5+ years management experience of at least 10 engineers working on a customer facing enterprise product
• 8+ years experience and knowledge with SQL Server DB Technology
• 5+ years experience executing SQL reviews and demonstrating the ability to rewrite complex queries for performance improvement
• Experience recruiting senior and junior team.
• Manage a team from initial team formation, product definition, development, deployment, go live and service ownership.
• Deep expertise in software development and quality engineering
• Innovator with good ideas, strong problem solving and communication skills, and a results-oriented attitude.
• Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic agile team environment.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of deployments and resolution of production issues.
Desired Skills:
• Service owner for successful enterprise product.
• Experience with distributed systems, database replication, transaction management, Disaster Recovery and High Availability.
• Experience with database catalog, upgrade, query execution, query optimization.
• Experience with MySQL
• Experience building a high-performance large-scale database platform.
• Experience with resolving customer issues.
