DESCRIPTION
Amazon seeks an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to play a key role on the Amazon Devices Finance Team. Over the past decade Amazon has developed a number of market-leading, innovative, and fast-growing digital and mobile businesses including Kindle, Fire Tablets, Fire TV and Echo. This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial minded candidate who wants to work in a start-up like environment who is passionate about hardware and digital experiences in and interested in directly supporting the global Kindle Devices product team.
As a Sr. Finance Analyst supporting the Kindle team, you will help define the business strategy for existing and future Amazon Kindle devices. Job responsibilities will include working closely with business teams to create financial models that provide business intelligence for key business decisions in a timely, accurate, and actionable manner. You will work closely with our Kindle business leaders in defining sales and profit maximizing strategies for new and existing products and help with the implementation of those strategies.
The successful candidate will have shown experience in past roles influencing business owners and supporting decision making in rapidly evolving environments. The candidate must have the aptitude to incorporate new approaches and methodologies, including statistical concepts, while dealing with big data. Excellent business and communication skills are a must to develop and define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be able to work with business customers to understand the requirements and implement financial solutions.
This role requires a self-starter with strong business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and good track record of influencing decisions. This role also has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Key responsibilities:
• Working cross organizationally with business teams to determine financial feasibility of new products
• Creating financial models and analysis supporting new product development ideas
• Working with financial data to determine ongoing financial performance of existing products
• Developing operational support plans and executing project based customer analysis
• Meeting and collaborating with business teams on requirements, objectives and measures
• Leading the long-term financial planning process for new products
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• BA/BS degree in finance or related field plus 5+ years of relevant experience OR MBA plus 3+ years of relevant experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• MBA
• Excellent verbal & written communications skills
• Advanced Excel & business modeling skills
• Track record of working with business owners to develop and define key business questions and build data sets that answer those questions
• Proven skills working cross organizationally including organizations outside the US
• Ability to work quickly and accurately in an ambiguous environment
• Moderate use of SQL and MySQL database, experience in writing SQL queries
