Senior Software Engineer (Akamai, Technologies; Ft. Lauderdale, FL): Akamai is seeking a polyglot, “full stack” software developer to add their experience and expertise to Akamai’s development staff. In this role you will design and develop software to manage and monitor complex DDoS mitigation and network infrastructure systems. You will be working in a small team of seasoned professionals to deliver novel software solutions to complex, large-scale challenges within the Akamai security business unit. Responsibilities include: development of network monitoring and analytics software; apply understanding of distributed system architecture with the use-cases required by the project; communicate with research teams and data scientists, finding bottlenecks and resolving them; design and implement different architectural models for our scalable data processing, as well as scalable data storage; build functionality for data ingestion from multiple heterogeneous sources; and build functionality for data analytics, search and aggregation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field plus 3 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field plus 5 years of relevant experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have: Total required years of experience listed above must include the following (can be gained concurrently): 3 years with scripting languages: Python, Node.js, Ruby, Javascript or similar; 3 years with Java and/or Scala and working knowledge of the JVM; 3 years with core Spring framework. Additionally must have the following (stated ability but no specific amount or years of experience in the following skills is required.): proven experience with Web Services and Internet architecture – REST, HTTP, JSON; proven proficiency in JDBC programming; proven experience with Java Persistence API (JPA) and Hibernate as object/relational mapper; knowledge or experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD); experience owning the full life-cycle design, development, test, documentation and production support for a software product; proven prior successful experience working as part of a team.
