Creative Director, Amazon Go

Amazon Go is seeking a talented, experienced Creative Director to lead a team of retail and graphic designers to create shopping experiences our customers will love.
Amazon Go is a new kind of physical store with no lines and no checkout—you just grab and go! Customers simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take what they want from our selection of fresh, delicious meals and grocery essentials, and go. Designed and custom-built by Amazonians, our Just Walk Out Technology uses a variety of technologies including computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. Innovation is part of our DNA. In this role, you’ll work hands-on to develop and communicate a cohesive creative vision that operates across a variety of mediums, and inspire your team and partners to take it to the next level. You are a dreamer and a futurist, who also knows how to get things done. As an ideal candidate, you are passionately customer-centric and have a deep portfolio that demonstrates versatility and design excellence in bringing major brands and products to life. You demonstrate a strong visual aesthetic, impeccable design sense, and an ability to tell a clear and compelling brand story across physical environments, print, digital, packaging, and experimental mediums. Further, you personify a creative leader who constantly seeks to elevate both customer experience and business needs, and translate these into an end-to-end brand experience that can adapt to business and customer needs over time. In this role, you will collaborate with Product Managers, Marketing leaders, Development Leads, and other Creative leaders to deliver high-quality, on-brand design solutions. This role is for a highly capable creative leader and team manager who can direct internal and external creative resources, and has the composure and communication talent to effectively present to senior executives.

Your Key Responsibilities:
• Creative direct world-class brand and visual design for Amazon Go, ranging from broad design themes to component-level execution across retail interior and exterior design, digital, print, packaging, and other key customer touch points
• Manage a team of retail and graphic designers to create stunning experiences our customers will love
• Closely collaborate with Creative leads, Marketing Managers, Product Managers, and Development Leads to define strategic objectives and deliver results
• Partner with Product and Marketing teams to develop and execute creative strategy and consumer insights that drive compelling creative executions
• Create new style conventions that unify the brand with a solid creative vision across all mediums
• Understand and respond to testing metrics and optimization efforts based on performance data to define and continuously improve the direction and execution of creative ideas
• Create concepts, sketches, graphics, and high-fidelity executions in support of store design, packaging, brand, and marketing campaigns
• Present and defend your own work and that of your team to peers, stakeholders, and senior executives
• Effectively and proactively manage deliverables and deadlines for you and your team with transparency
• Exhibit leadership composure in critical situations and communicate clearly with team members, peers, and stakeholders
• Foster a design culture that enables world-class creative work and talent development
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years experience in creative design and art direction
• A strong portfolio of work demonstrating creative skills and breadth of work
• Creative invention and innovation with the ability to articulate big and breakthrough ideas through a combination of mediums such as environmental, print, digital, industrial design, transmedia, events, and experiential
• Ability to manage creative teams, inspire great creative and problem solve
• Relevant creative and production management experience with a major corporation, design studio, or advertising/marketing agency
• Proven success in project management and execution across relevant mediums, including retail design, print, packaging, and digital
• Current proficiency in a relevant set of design tools such as Photoshop, Revit, SketchUp, InDesign, and Illustrator
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Creative writing skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Inspired to be always learning, curious and be positive
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Food and Consumer Products industry experience
• Strong decision-making skills
• Strong creative and project management skills
• Ability to operate with significant autonomy and discretion
• Ability to collaborate in team environment
• Ability to track budgets on creative projects and negotiate estimates
• Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage multiple, complex projects under extremely tight deadlines
• Experience mentoring Designers across many disciplines
