Job Description:
The Sr Sales Strategy Director will be the key business partner to the Vice President of Enterprise and Mid-Market Sales to manage a team focused on massively growing the business and improving sales productivity. The role is similar to Sales Strategy/Operations Sr Director roles in traditional technology companies – a hybrid of managing a team responsible for strategic planning, sales optimization, finance, and analysis. However, well beyond the core operations, the successful candidate will also bring strategic vision to the business, identifying new and innovative approaches to market coverage and sales productivity improvement while supplying an objective perspective akin to what a management consultant or experienced sales executive might bring.
Strategic deliverables take the form of recommendations on sales structure, segmentation and coverage, business planning, investment prioritization, productivity improvement. Operationally, the focus will be on forecasting, tracking of business performance, analysis of trends, and formulation of meaningful and actionable recommendations.
This role does not have a primary focus on Sales Support Systems Infrastructure or Sales Team Enablement.
Reports to: Vice President, Sales Strategy and Operations
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement the sales coverage model
• Analyze the health of the business and present recommendations to senior management for strategic decision making and investment
• Play a lead role in the annual and long-range sales planning process
• Work cross-functionally with marketing, customer success, finance, etc. to develop integrated go-to-market strategies to accelerate business growth in the core as well as new geographies, products and market segments.
• Work closely with Sales VPs, Directors, Manager and AEs to identify, design and implement opportunities for sales productivity improvement
• Design and interpret key performance metrics, and craft plans to address pronounced weakness
• Build executive presentations, crafting the messages of Sales
• Work closely with top executives at the company
• Strategic projects assigned by Sales Leadership or developed by the Sales Strategy Team
Qualifications:
• 7-12 years of work experience in sales/business strategy & operations (or equivalent function) with significant exposure to sales teams AND/OR experience in management consulting, preferably with some engagements that provided exposure to sales and operations
• Experienced manager of high potential individuals
• Stellar problem solving skills and strong analytical skills
• Sales experience, preferably technology-related, is highly desirable (but not required)
• Ability to conduct sophisticated and creative analysis, yet translate those results to easily digestible messages, communications, and presentations
• Strong presentation skills
• Flexibility and ability to adjust on the fly to new demands; sense of urgency
• Assertiveness, directness, and a “company first” mentality
• Strong senior executive engagement and influence skills
• BS/BA required; MBA a plus, but not required
