We are looking for a revenue recognition guru who is passionate about topics like “residual method” and “VSOE” but is wise enough to not sound too “geeky” when advising business partners. Ambition and a knack for challenging the status quo are expected. We are looking for someone who feels empowered to innovate, takes action, is customer driven and is someone we can trust to make the right decisions.
Responsibilities
• Evaluates and creates revenue policies to make sure they align with the business and make economic sense.
• Takes a clean sheet of paper approach when advising business partners in developing new business models, tackling go-to-market initiatives or revisiting operational processes.
• Is able to tackle technical revenue topics, including forward looking issues such as proposed revenue guidance, and provide an accurate interpretation that can be used to proactively support the business.
• Oversees the global Fair Value and VSOE compliance review, its outcome and proposes strategic decisions in alignment with pricing strategies.
• Leads the global review of complex deals for consistency with policies and practices. Participates in revenue contract negotiation, collaborating with Legal, Sales, and Revenue Operations teams.
• Manages training to business partners while working closely with them to ensure consistency in application of policies and practices.
• Participates in routine accounting close activities, specifically in the area of deal reviews and management reporting.
• Presents issues and recommendations in a crisp and concise manner to enable better decision-making. Interaction with external auditors is expected.
Qualifications
• One of us: BS in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or equivalent preferred.
• You’re wise: Minimum 10 years of similar experience. Previous experience with a software company is highly desirable. Big 4 experience is a plus.
• You speak our language: Working knowledge of Software Revenue Recognition and Hardware Revenue Accounting.
• We get you and you get us: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to communicate technical revenue issues in a business-like, non-technical manner is a basic requirement. Developed PowerPoint skills are key.
• You get it done: Excellent time and project management skills – can coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a high-paced business culture. Proficiency in Excel is needed.
