Backup Exec Product Marketing Senior Manager

Veritas is looking to hire a senior marketing star to join the Backup Exec Marketing & Enablement team! This position is based in Mountain View, California.
The ideal candidate will be a technology enthusiast with the ability to up-level technical concepts into simple stories that clearly articulate business value for customers, with experience in the storage/infrastructure space. They will be able to work cross functionally to then generate market ready campaigns and assets around these stories.
This person will be someone who approaches marketing with a data-driven mindset with a strong research acumen and ability to drive and show results. Strong written /verbal communications skills are a must, an interest and presence in professional/IT social platforms is a plus, and graphic design/creative media talents are a benefit. Compelling, on-point content creation is an expectation in this role. Basic project management skills with the ability to own/drive projects to close are also expected.
The Backup Exec Marketing team is responsible for developing marketing strategy, messaging, promotions and programs that help drive Veritas’ Backup Exec initiatives, including supporting joint marketing activities with key partners. Additionally, the team helps position Veritas solutions overall to SMB customers and partners by tailoring messages for a variety of use cases. The output from the team also informs brand strategy and awareness campaigns, demand generation campaigns, and a plethora of other go-to-market activities.

Responsibilities
• Take on and execute Backup Exec solutions marketing projects and programs
• Act as key champion for specific product launches with solutions messaging
• Conduct research via customer & partner interviews, surveys, etc. to inform messaging strategy and positioning
• Work closely with a cross-functional team to develop Veritas go-to-market strategy
• Develop various external-facing content that communicates Veritas’ differentiators leveraging the latest digital/social vehicles
• Partner with Veritas public relations to develop PR plans, press releases, blogs, bylines, and abstracts
• Partner with analyst relations to educate influencers on Veritas’ value proposition and ensure a strong position in key reports
• Partner with sales enablement to educate direct sales and partners on latest messaging and positioning respective to trends and technology value proposition
• Promote and inform internal stakeholders to create marketing plans and campaign successes and ensure message consistency among corporate spokespeople
Qualifications/Experience
• Proven success in business-to-business product and/or related marketing – 10 years or more – ideally in the cloud storage/infrastructure space including a strong focus on digital & social marketing approaches
• Entrepreneurial self-starter with discipline for setting goals and metrics, driving decisions, and getting closure on recommendations and issues
• Ability to take complex technology and describe its business value through compelling content creation
• Creative, collaborative, and organized approach to identifying opportunities and solving problems
• Successful at managing stakeholders at all levels of an organization (including senior executives), as well as media, partners, customers and analysts
• Ability to travel periodically to interact with customers and partners, attend events, etc. is required
• Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, marketing or equivalent (MBA highly desired)
• SMB/Mid market B2B sales experience a plus
• Channel partner sales experience a plus
