Director of Market Strategy, BuzzFeed Motion Pictures (New York)
BuzzFeed is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial, digital market strategist with a passion for social content-driven advertising to lead Market Strategy for BuzzFeed Motion Pictures. This role will report to the SVP of Global Agency Development, with a dotted line to the Head of Development for BuzzFeed Motion Pictures.
The Director of Market Strategy is a senior team member fluent in the language of both the sales and advertising market and that of the television / audience building world. The true north for this role is scaling the ad-supported television business. This person will work closely with the Sales and Motion Picture orgs to arrive at solutions and thinking that result in increased revenue. This person will act as a resource to communicate these opportunities in-market. The Director of Market Strategy will also be responsible for regularly reporting on and painting a clear picture of the opportunities, challenges we're facing and revenue realities of the Motion Picture business for Sales, Edit and Executive Leadership at BuzzFeed.
Successful candidates should have strong experience both in ad sales and in the market for advertising as applied to entertainment,, with a focus on digital ad sales (but experience with experiential and television marketing is highly desirable). They should also have previously demonstrated experience in growing accounts from scratch. Candidates must be comfortable working at high levels with clients and agencies.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and influence integrated sales marketing strategies and brand opportunities for BuzzFeed Entertainment’s slate of online programming.
• Develop messaging and narrative for BuzzFeed’s suite of programming and digital audiences against competing digital entities, as well as other media vehicles.
• Position and articulate the value and ROI of BuzzFeed Entertainment Group to build relevant advertising solutions for brands while leveraging BuzzFeed’s audience
• Work with brand marketers to significantly and positively impact the development of marketing partnerships with BuzzFeed Shows.
• Collaborate with BuzzFeed Entertainment Group and Product teams to develop and launch new brand marketing opportunities
• Prepare proposals and respond to RFP's for BuzzFeed Entertainment Group with a high degree of professionalism, quality and in a timely manner
• Collaborate with BuzzFeed Entertainment Group and Client Services to provide post campaign analytics, insights and recommendations that position BF Shows for a renewal
• Identify opportunities for upsells and new business strategies for BuzzFeed programming.
Requirements:
• 7+ years experience working with brands in television
• Extensive experience of digital sales, including direct management experience preferably within broadcast or television.
• Understanding of content and how to use data and insight to drive revenue
• Knowledge of social media ad offerings from Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram.
• Ability to attract, retain and develop salespeople at all levels.
• Results orientated and proven performance
• Proven ability to scale and manage large partnerships
• Strong negotiation, influencing skills and an ability to persuade at all levels of an agency or client.
• An entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset to leverage all the amazing possibilities at BuzzFeed.
• Excellent experience at dealing with C-Suite contacts in both agencies and clients
• Ability to think on your feet and ideate on the spot as opportunities develop fast.
• A team player that will enjoy working with other highly talented sales execs who are on a mission to build this business.
• Preferred experience operating in a cross functional global organization.
