Director, Technical Program Manager- Cloud BU
Role Description:
• Champion the Product (strategic/technical)
• Know your customer. Understand the problems they need the product to solve. Evangelize your product in terms they understand. Set realistic expectations and strive to over-deliver
• Represent customer needs and requirements to the development team. Be the Product Owner. Write user stories and prioritize them for execution. Apply the Pareto Principle relentlessly
• Work with customers to define and get buy-off on product acceptance criteria and SLAs
• Bridge the Gaps (strategic/tactical)
• See the big picture. Be the first to anticipate roadblocks, and do whatever it takes to remove them.
• Identify team dependencies, both inbound and out. Build bridges across the organization, and collaborate to ensure dependencies are understood and met.
• Notice when work items don't have clear ownership and find an owner. Make sure nothing falls on the floor.
• Herd the Cats (tactical/technical)
• Know your development team. Understand the technology they build, the capabilities, possibilities and limitations. Ensure the team is focused on the right things.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to ensure that good engineering practices are followed. Attend architecture and design reviews, and participate in agile processes.
• Set the bar for quality. Ensure integration and end-to-end testing are planned for and performed.
• Run the Business (tactical/strategic)
• In collaboration with engineering leaders, define and publish meaningful status metrics.
• Be the expert on program status. Own the communication of status to customers and executives.
• Work with engineering leaders to plan semi-annual roadmaps, using knowledge of customer needs and priorities.
• Orchestrate all the moving pieces that must come together for a successful product release. Define processes, cadences and workflows to ensure successful product delivery.
Basic Qualifications:
• STEM degree and/or programming experience required
• 8+ years of strong technical program management or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of solution management experience for infrastructure, software, or online services (SaaS experience)
• 5+ years of managing and motivating teams
• Thorough understanding of infrastructure processes and lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using agile methodologies.
• Software development experience highly desired
• Agile experience required
• Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to collaboration
• Able to work well in a cross-functional, matrixed management environment
• Experience with large-scale data applications and distributed computing required
• Experience delivering multi-tenant solutions desired
• Experience delivering software services, especially platforms, required
