About this role
We are looking for a senior leader to shape and drive Heroku's Web Strategy. This leader will be responsible for growing Heroku's primary sign-up channel, heroku.com, where millions of developers come to learn about Heroku. This position is highly visible and part of the senior leadership team, serving as the hub across Marketing, Product and Sales.
Your responsibilities
• Be the visionary for what Heroku.com should be. Determine how we most effectively grow website engagement and signups while driving excitement and awareness of Heroku's capabilities to an audience of developers, CTO/CIOs and business users.
• Be the thought leader and subject matter expert on web site user experience including information architecture, UX, functionality, interaction design, visuals, and content copy.
• Build, manage and optimize heroku.com and other customer facing web assets with an extreme focus on UX, developer success and customer acquisition.
• Drive the roadmap for Heroku.com's capabilities: Serve as product owner for the Dev team, prioritize and own the backlog for our technical capabilities- which optimization tools and functional capabilities do we need, what is their priority, how does it all fit together? Make tough tactical prioritization decisions while helping the company think long-term. Build trust with stakeholders by maintaining an understandable, transparent roadmap.
• Constantly learn and improve through A/B tests, qualitative research, process and tooling evaluations, and team retrospectives.
• Working closely with our cross-functional team: Growth Marketing, Product Marketing, Creative Design, and Customer Care to balance their needs and ensure our brand and customer experience are accelerated through our website and end-to-end marketing programs.
• Drive Billings growth and maximize demand generation campaigns in partnership with Growth Marketing, including landing page and customer journey optimization.
• Establish quantitative and qualitative means to assess and measure the success of customer experience and online strategies, tactics and programs.
• Be the data-driven expert on our website: Continuously analyzing, understanding and communicating site performance to our execs, marketing leadership and the broader company.
Key competencies
• 7+ years experience owning web strategy and marketing, preferably for a developer-centric and/or freemium company.
• You've "been there/done" that with scaling teams and processes in a rapidly growing "digital first" environment.
• Good sense of humor and strong commitment to team. We live in a fast paced, high change environment where we work closely with small teams.
• Strong analytical skills and structured thinking. You know how to turn data from disparate sources into a vision for what we should do.
• Demonstrable experience driving website effectiveness and marketing ROI leveraging industry-leading tools such as Google Analytics, Optimizely, Adobe Target, Conductor, BrightEdge, Qualaroo, KISSMetrics, HotJar, MixPanel, etc.
• Bonus points if you are experienced in TOFU demand gen and campaign marketing and how they best integrate with web, including SEM, webinars, email, social, integration with off-property websites and building communities.
