Director Engineering - AWS Marketplace
DESCRIPTION
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the go-to cloud platform for some of the world’s hottest startups and largest enterprises. Come join the AWS Marketplace team in our mission to change the way any developer produced software and services are monetized and deployed for the cloud! AWS Marketplace is the enterprise software "app store" for AWS, and we're building a unique new platform for discovery, procurement, metering and fulfillment of software and services of all kinds. Today the AWS Marketplace business is significant and growing rapidly but we believe it has the potential to be much bigger and disrupt the software procurement business.
AWS Marketplace is looking for a passionate and innovative Director of Engineering to own and innovate on our third-party Developer Experience, AWS Catalog Platform and Curation/Ingestion Platform.
You will build and manage the roadmap for future product development in the area, including new services, new features for existing services, operational improvements for existing services, and regional expansion. In this role, you will have a chance to interact with large AWS customers, including leading edge enterprises and high growth startups, and use their feedback to drive innovation. Your team will include development, program management and operations for this set of services. You’ll hire talented engineers and bring them together as a team to innovate and deliver. You will leverage your experience with distributed systems and administrators as customers to define and build secure, reliable, scalable, fast, cost-effective, and easy-to-use products. You’ll help set – and will be expected to deliver on – aggressive goals for adoption, operational performance, and feature delivery.
You must have an established background in delivering customer-facing solutions, strong technical skills, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You are a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence within a team. You are a builder with good working knowledge of cloud technologies such as Serverless Computing (Lambda), and Cloud Management/orchestration tools. Knowledge of on-premise data center technologies such as VMWare, etc. is a plus.
Responsibilities include direct management of managers and senior engineers, strategic planning, product definition, customer communication, project management for software within the team, and quality of software development process. Additionally, as our organization is growing, hiring top-notch managers and engineers will be a key focus.
If you join us, you will be rewarded with the opportunity to lead a highly visible AWS service, define how AWS customers procure software and services, and help build highly scalable, customer-facing services!
