DESCRIPTION
D1 is the internal creative agency setting design and brand direction for Amazon’s global brand. Our mission is to be the most customer-centric collective of creative thinkers, dreamers, and doers. This manifests itself through visual design, branding, photography, video, advertising and user experience design. We are responsible for branding and the creative development of style guides for the Amazon master brand and collaborate with business partners around the world to support a wide range of devices, services, features, and retail categories. We apply strategic insight to delight customers - driving discovery, engagement, and trust. We’re growing quickly and hiring the best. This is day one.
We are looking for an Art Director to drive the creative vision for our device’s product imagery. This person will partner with 3D designers and photographers to create on-brand imagery that works across a variety of platforms (advertising, online retail, offline retail, social, etc). Strong storyteller skills are required to develop compelling imagery that clarifies product features, and customer benefits while supporting business needs. Candidates must be adept at systematic design thinking, managing deadlines, and able to deal with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• An online portfolio demonstrating the ability to create dynamic, compelling, on-brand product imagery
• Strong understanding of the design and product photography trends
• Proficient at creating clear, concise, creative briefs that can translate product features and customer benefits into creative direction
• Experience directing 3D artists, retouchers, and leading photo shoots
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to gracefully defend your design decisions to executive management
• Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Bachelor's degree in design, photography or equivalent professional experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• eCommerce/retail art direction experience
• Passion for working with a collaborative, creative team
• Ability to direct on-site and off-site creative resources
• Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results on creative projects
Ability to create frameworks to evaluate problems and present a recommendation for how to proceed
