Overview
The Director of Finance- Global Marketing is a key position within Akamai Finance as we strive to become a world-class finance organization and be a value-creating, customer-focused partner in driving business results. Reporting to the VP, Finance Operations Web Division, this challenging global role will serve as business and strategic advisor to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and their leadership team to ensure the financial and operational objectives for the business are met. The Marketing finance partner provides leadership in terms of strategic/forward thinking financial support, controls, decision support, and operational know-how to achieve the business performance targets. This position is the single point of contact with the Global Marketing Organization for finance and is an active member of the Global Marketing Leadership team in developing and executing on strategies. This role provides valued business counsel to the CMO and team, but also challenges in areas and creates good healthy tension, incorporates teaching, learning, influencing, and ultimately advising in a way that helps the business define/redefine problems and arrive at new solutions. The successful candidate will sit on the VP, Finance Operations Web Division and Global Marketing leadership staffs.
The successful candidate will define the business performance standards and metrics, and create/drive internal financial processes and systems to be simple, predictive and accessible. He/she will ensure appropriate due diligence is applied to business decisions, maintaining the integrity of reported information, synthesizing that information into a strategic asset, and forecasting with a high level of predictability. He/she will partner with Corporate Marketing, Field Marketing, Divisional Marketing, Finance and Sales Operations, teams across the company, effectively balancing mandates between the Global Marketing and other Akamai organizations. Additionally, this person will need to attract, develop and maintain talent within the organization. This will require organization design and recruiting. This position offers the right candidate an influential seat at the table of a growing and dynamic Global Marketing Organization and will provide opportunity for senior level career development and growth.
As the Director of Finance - Global Marketing you will:
*Partner with VP of marketing operations to establish and drive cross divisional budget tracking standards
*Partner with Marketing Leadership Team on Lead Generation Initiatives.
*Work with VP of marketing operations to establish a methodology for assessing country level marketing investment (headcount and programs) based on market profitability, GTM and competitive/market opportunity.
*Provide impartial 3rd party leadership and analysis as needed and on ROI methodology and investment decisions.
*Provide leadership on portfolio optimization.
*Work with the Global Marketing Organization to drive the development of strategic (multi-year) long-term financial plans.
• Develop and implement short-term financial and operational plans (budgets and forecasts).
• Ensure that business and financial plans include defined and measurable initiatives and programs aligned to support such plans.
• Set business framework for managing business investments, resource allocations, business planning, operations and performance measurements.
• Proactively monitor and put in place performance reporting processes to ensure both short-term and long-term objectives are met.
• Review and revise KPIs as needed to ensure they provide the right visibility into the business.
• Provide management team with insightful decision support/business analysis.
• Establish and maintain strong business controls.
• Understand competitive landscape, including business strategies, cost structures and key business metrics.

Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
• 12+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting or
• 10+ years of relevant experience and a Masters degree in Finance or Accounting or
• 7+ years of relevant experience and a PhD in Finance or Accounting or
• Equivalent professional experience
Required Skills
• 12+ years of progressive finance experience.
• 8+ years of experience in Business Partner Finance Roles.
• 5+ years of experience supporting a Global Marketing Organization as finance business partner.
• 5+ years of experience managing a team.
Desired Skills
• Serves in a Marketing finance leadership position for a fast-growing technology company, preferably in the enterprise software or Internet markets.
• Strong record of career advancement with a well-rounded background in functions including financial planning, business partnering, and Marketing/Sales financial support.
• Ideally worked at companies with rigorous financial training and business partnering capabilities.
• Ability to work across a geographically dispersed organization.
• Experience managing a P&L and delivering results.
• Ability to understand the business, beyond finance.
