Lending Club is hiring a Director, Design Research to lead the generation of critical insights that underpin the creation of winning products. Lending Club’s design research team plays a critical role in developing the insights behind our product and design decisions. We're looking for someone who is passionate about customers, human-centered design and has a proven track record for leading research projects with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with the business to scope out the most consequential questions that user research can answer that will lead to the creation of the best products and user experiences.
• Lead a team of experienced researchers and be a key member of the design leadership team within the Product and Design organization
• Build the design research processes within the product development process
• Hire, motivate, coach and inspire a team of talented user experience researchers
• With the help of the team organize the work around recruiting, analysis and presentation of research, in a fast-paced Agile software development environment
• Teach the broad spectrum of research methods and tools and help the team select the right methods for the research at hand
• Lead research projects with cross-functional stakeholders including designers, product managers, and engineers
• Be an evangelist for user insights and track how others across the organization use research to generate better outcomes.
• Create a strong culture of design thinking within Product and Design, mentoring and guiding others outside design research
• Build upon current process to find a clear way to measure the impact of design changes, routed in design research, on the user experience
Requirements:
• 8+ years of industry experience conducting design research in a fast-paced environment
• 4+ years of people management experience
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Experience defining and implementing a company wide research strategy
• Strong research experience across different methods, with both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
• Superb communication skills and comfortable communicating cross functionally, and across all levels of the organization
