DESCRIPTION
D1 is the internal creative agency setting design and brand direction for Amazon’s global brand. Our mission is to be the most customer-centric collective of creative thinkers, dreamers and doers. This manifests itself through visual design, branding, photography, video, advertising and user experience design. We are responsible for branding and the creative development of style guides for the Amazon master brand and collaborate with business partners around the world to support a wide range of devices, services, features, and retail categories. We apply strategic insight to delight customers - driving discovery, engagement, and trust. We’re growing quickly and hiring the best. This is day one.
We are looking for a Design Director to lead our rapidly growing Devices team in Seattle. This role will drive the creative vision for this team of art directors, copywriters and designers. This person will help to develop resources currently on the team and identify creative roles needed to help grow the team in the proper direction. This creative lead will also develop pitches and strategies to help sell the team’s creative production abilities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years leading creative teams within a design and brand focus
• A portfolio with a range of experience in brands, budgets and contributions
• Experience presenting creative ideas
• Experience as team lead and mentoring team members
• Client-management skills
• Experience developing cross functional relationships with product, consumer research and marketing teams to develop ad strategy and consumer insights that drive compelling creative executions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience leading the creative and business goals for a creative team is a plus
• Self-starter with ability to navigate ambiguous situations
• Passion for working on a collaborative, creative team
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience driving compelling print creative strategy and execution
• Have strong bias for action in a fast-paced, metric driven environment
• Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results on creative projects, and history of establishing effective creative development processes
• Proven results through implementation of creative processes, philosophy and culture into a production environment
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Team orientated with experience to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
• Establish and foster a culture that enables world-class creative development
