What You'll Do
As a Director you will focus your work with Service Providers around a small and well-defined set of critical market transitions, which pose both significant threats, as well as new opportunities for growth and shareholder value creation. Such transitions include operational and technical transformation to software defined networks (SDN) and network virtualization, the evolution to cloud enabled application solutions within business and consumer segments, the monetization of OTT traffic, or the business value opportunities of all IP video delivery.
The sector lead roles are charged with owning a specific set of customer engagements, and for defining and developing the requisite thought leadership in one or more of the key SP market transitions. At this point the organization does plan to have a global geographic scope with specific emphasis on the Americas Service Provider landscape. The sector leads will manage and develop a diverse team of Service Provider and New Media professionals, who partner with our leading customers, work directly with field account teams, the field leadership team, Consulting services, and directly with Cisco Business Units to enhance Cisco business relevance by linking customers' strategies to Cisco product and service capabilities. The intent of the role is to increase customers' probability of success for major transitions and to position Cisco as the partner of choice in executing those strategies. The sector lead will also play a role in driving customer insights back into the planning and strategy efforts of Cisco. He/She will have responsibility to developing and managing senior executive relationships at the target accounts (aligned with account and Cisco leadership) and to structure and deliver the engagements. He/She will also be responsible to develop and manage at least one industry-leading points-of-view that demonstrate the strategic impact of service provider transformation supported by leading communication and information technologies. In this role, the sector leads will manage engagement teams and thought leadership development teams.
The purpose of the team is to influence industry growth and Cisco business within it. Therefore, some key metrics for sector leads will include:
1) Customer Benefit Achieved
2) Cisco Pull-through (at specific customers and then scaled)
3) Cisco SP share and revenue growth
Key Job Responsibilities
* Identify and define the thought leadership associated with a key market transition for the SP industry. This includes hypothesis development, research plan, asset development, and asset packaging.
* Lead and motivate a team of professionals to develop, deliver, and market the key thought leadership assets.
* Engage at the CXO level to identify, design and deliver, transformational engagements at a select and identified list of key Cisco customers, in which the customer achieves value and for which creates Cisco business opportunity.
* Identify and coordinate Cisco and other resources in support of the engagement delivery.
* Define repeatable processes and intellectual property and coordinate the training and development of Cisco resources for scaling.
* Design and execute CXO level presentations
* Represent key thought leadership areas in public and Cisco forums
* Advice Cisco Sales, Strategy, and Engineering executives
Who You'll Work With
You will lead transformational engagements and develop industry defining thought leadership. Our largest service provider customers want Cisco to engage at an executive level with them as they identify and assess future strategies in light of the dynamic marketplace. This position will work on a small number of opportunities where we will work collaboratively with our customers to define strategic direction for our most important SP customers. Further, this team will be responsible for translating these engagements into replicable execution models to be scaled by a number of organizations within Cisco including Consulting Services, Advanced Services, and Cisco's Service Provider Architecture groups. Further, this group will play a critical business function focused on linking the business and technical strategies of our leading Service Provider customers to the Cisco development strategies and roadmaps and to our field investments and priorities.
Who You Are
You are a experienced and accomplished executive with a significant knowledge base, in-depth understanding of trends and innovations across the SP marketplace. You have previous partner level or equivalent consulting experience from a top-tier firm is critical as is experience managing executive level customer relationships. Referenced credibility as an SP thought leader and strategist and have an extensive contact network with CXO's and industry experts
Our minimum requirements for this role:
* Visibility in the Service Provider at theatre level (i.e., speaker at industry forums, documented knowledge in white papers, articles, contribution to thought leadership, etc.), and already recognized as a leader in the industry.
* Possess an impressive executive demeanor and be charismatic, self-motivated, and must have the natural ability to build and expand client relationships.
* Proven ability to listen, make recommendations and influence industry executives is required. This person will be a strong thinker and problem solver with powerful writing and verbal skills.
* Strong external/customer-driven focus and must be able to create a sense of urgency for action.
* Build collaborative, virtual teams from across Cisco on a regular and temporary basis to respond to the opportunities that drive the Service Provider Americas strategic agenda.
* Ability to empower others, facilitate effective brainstorming and have a strong sense about managing the creative process of others.
* Ability to work with ambiguity
