Position Description:

Reporting to the Global Head of Business Development and Advertising Sales, the successful Senior Director, TravelAds Sales will be responsible for leading sales efforts globally by driving accelerated sales growth globally for the sponsored listing product across Expedia Inc.’s portfolio of brands (including Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz, and Travelocity) directly to partners and advertising agencies.
Key Responsibilities & Experiences:
• Grow revenue – deliver against quarterly and annual global revenue goals for TravelAds.
• Manage, motivate and coach a team of media sales managers who sit in major advertising markets around the world.
• Forecasting and set goals for the global sales team.
• Using excellent verbal and written communications, you will educate your team and the wider organization on the overall TravelAds business strategy. Lead strategy and sales management practices worldwide that help deliver excellent results for Expedia and our partners.
• Act as the Media Solutions authority, for both internal and external key partners on TravelAds products.
• Develop sales strategies for emerging and mature markets – growing ad sales footprint within regions through new client acquisition and growth of base accounts.
• Execute on go-to-market strategies and plans.
• Mentor and develop sales teams which includes recruiting, hiring and training of front line sellers and sales managers with a focus on Challenger sales methodology.
• Support the TravelAds sales team by participating and leading in client, agency and prospect meetings. Engaging other corporate resources as required.
• Understand CPC auction mechanisms to develop strategies to increase revenue and sustain or improve return on ad spend metrics.
Competencies, Knowledge, and Behavior:
• You will bring a unique blend of strategy and execution – we are looking for someone with the ability to set a long term vision for the TravelAds product while also rolling up their sleeves and getting things done.
• Demonstrated success as an IC and sales manager in media and/or digital travel sales.
• Proven experience in leading globally dispersed, dynamic sales teams.
• Experience in operating, monitoring and optimizing a sales engagement, pipeline and sales productivity process.
• Building solid relationships at multiple levels with clients and agencies.
• Work with internal teams to ensure organizational understanding of sales strategy and market demands and how that translates into product offering and sales support requirements.
• Analyze performance of the regional business, major accounts and report results.
• Deep dives into performance metrics and details of business composition. Success in using metrics to uncover new opportunities and/or gaps to grow/scale the business.
• Cross collaboration with peers to demonstrate best practices and help the global team win.
• Strong balance of people skills and analytical approach to running business for optimal performance.
• Strong propensity to take initiative and flourish with change.
• Ability to travel in-market and navigate multiple time zones effectively.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field; master’s degree preferred
