The exceptionally talented thought leader who fills this role must combine sound business judgment, world-class management chops and an ability to directly and indirectly influence stakeholders in order to drive results. We need a big thinker who will challenge us, question previous assumptions and push LivingSocial to level-up our marketing efforts.
The Sr/Director of Marketing will be responsible for translating the customer experience and revenue objectives into effective retail strategies that differentiate LivingSocial and drive consumer interest. In addition, this role will be responsible for developing and driving clear and consistent branding which resonates with consumers and differentiates LivingSocial from the Groupon brand.
They will be hands on leader who will manage a team of campaign managers, marketing production and analysts who will be responsible for the performance of LivingSocial’s marketing efforts. They will be responsible for the development of major themes, creative, promotions, and customer experience across all major platforms (web + mobile). The person filling this role will be expected to have deep expertise in running large-scale online marketing.
The role reports to the VP / General Manager of LivingSocial and rolls up through the CMO. You will work mainly with marketing teams across digital and offline channels, as well as sales teams across our North American businesses. This is a high exposure, high leverage role that will shape the company’s marketing efforts and drive a clear and consistent retail strategy and approach.
Responsibilities Include:
• Own the development and evolution of the marketing & merchandising plan
• Act as a thought leader and establish best practices and processes around data analysis, modeling, measurement, and segmentation
• Interface with senior leadership to set and execute the plan against revenue and customer goals and to communicate key insights and recommendations
• Develop and drive execution of roadmaps for the analytics team across channels, functions, and groups within Marketing.
• Use data and insights to inform customer experience, marketing strategy, product strategy, and overall revenue strategy
• Establish partnerships with leaders in other business and marketing teams across Groupon
• Drive the creation of the merchandising platform including key tools and landing experiences
Professional Qualifications:
• 8-10 years of experience in retail marketing with a strong preference for online experience
• Experience in building and managing medium sized team
• Bachelor’s degree in a marketing or quantitative discipline (e.g. Marketing, management, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering); Master’s or MBA preferred
• Knowledge of tools including 3rd party ad serving, bid optimization, landing page development, and website analytics
• Strong skills in unstructured problem solving and analysis. Ability to manipulate complex data and move past simple insights into actionable recommendations
• Advanced knowledge of Excel is required
• Proven experience in conducting statistical tests for marketing optimization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
