Position Summary:
The online travel market is a trillion-dollar industry that never stands still. Operating between Expedia’s Global Brands, Supply Offerings, and Finance Teams, FCTS is the transactional heartbeat of Expedia Inc. FCTS is composed of two key platform components – Financial Systems, primarily based on the Oracle E-Business Suite; and the Core Transaction Platform that comprises Order and Fulfillment Orchestration, Trip Management, and Incentive Services. Through our technology and operations infrastructure, we handle billions of dollars of bookings, collections, and payments every month.
The Director, Strategy FCTSdrives the long-term vision and strategy development for the Financial Systems and Core Transactions space, and supports Strategy execution through close partnership with eCommerce Platform, Brand, Supply, and Finance teams.
The Director of FCTS Strategy will directly support the Vice President of FCTS to drive the strategic vision for the organization and facilitate the strategy execution in partnership with technology, product, and operations teams. The Director of FCTS Strategy works closely with the leadership team in a highly visible role. Frequent interaction with Expedia's eCommerce Platform leaders make this role an ideal stepping stone from strategy consulting into the fast-paced world of Ecommerce and Online Travel.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning, Strategy Execution:
• Owns & drives strategic plan and the planning process, building a multiyear plan of investment priorities
• Ensures alignment of FCTS Strategy with brands and the eCommerce Platform Strategy
• Supports the development of our Annual Plans and Budgets, and ensures alignment of Annual and Strategic Plans
• Oversees execution of Strategic Plan, for example through the initiation of Strategic Initiatives
• Develops strategic initiatives and leads execution of select strategic projects
• Reports on FCTS’s progress vs. our Strategic and Tactical Goals through Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews
Strategic Analyses:
• Provide strategic analyses in support to top priority Expedia and FCTS initiatives
• Ad-hoc analyses to support major decisions across all FCTS teams
Leadership:
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results through complex cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills, and extensive experience working with senior management
• Experience working cross-culturally and cross-functionally, and ability to adapt personal style to different environments
• Solid project management experience including multi-team, multi-project responsibilities
• Extensive experience identifying and prioritizing high impact improvement opportunities
• Leads strategic task forces and ad-hoc teams across all seniority levels of the organization
Other:
• Represents FCTS in Expedia-wide corporate initiatives
• Monitors and analyzes industry developments and best practices
Job Requirements
Experience & Education:
• 3+ year experience at top-tier strategic management consulting firm
• Experience with customer service, financial, and/or ERP product platforms that support OTC and P2P processes preferred, ideally in an ecommerce environment, is a plus
• eCommerce Technology and/or Product Management experience is a plus
• Master’s degree preferred
Analytical:
• Strong analytical skills - proven experience to structure and analyze ambiguous and complex business problems
• Extensive experience in identifying and prioritizing high-impact improvement opportunities
• Strong strategic and critical thinking skills; ability to see the “big picture” while also diving into the details where necessary
• A passion for using data to drive decision making; proven ability to apply appropriate rigor to the development of financial models for complex analyses
• Strong spreadsheet, data-management, and presentation development skills
Interpersonal/ Communication / Leadership:
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results through complex cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills, with extensive experience of working with senior management
• Experience of working cross-culturally and cross-functionally, and ability to adapt personal style to different environments
• Solid project management experience including multi-team, multi-project responsibilities
