The Opportunity
Gilt Groupe is looking for a Photo Art Director with Men’s & Women’s fashion experience to work on-site in our Manhattan studio. We are looking for candidates with an experienced fashion background, a stellar portfolio and strong organizational skills. A focus and interest in Women’s is necessary, but the right candidate will also be able to support and be comfortable with the Men’s, Home and Kids categories. This position requires solid on-set editorial shoot experience and the ability to lead a photo set efficiently and effectively. The Art Director works under the supervision of the Senior Art Director, and must be able to partner effectively with photography, styling, production, post-production, merchandising and marketing teams.
Responsibilities
• Creative preparation, art direction and management of editorial photo shoots
• Manage on set crews in studio
• Bring creative ideas to maintain Gilt’s editorial homepage
• Maintain individual brand guidelines while aligning with Gilt’s image
• Inspire and motivate the team. The photo team has a high output of creative imagery and the art director must be able to lead the team to produce fresh, amazing images on a daily basis
• Be hands-on and highly creative when concepting editorial imagery. The right candidate will be able to utilize our props and environment to create unique and fresh images daily
• Huge attention to detail - editorial photography must be consistent and fall within established guidelines
• Adapt and flex with business needs while still maintaining creative quality
• Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in art directing fashion photo shoots with a focus on Women’s.
• Strong eye for layout and composition
• Strong time management, communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task
• In-depth knowledge of photographers and production processes
• Proficient in latest design tools (Adobe Creative Suite)
• Ability to adapt to changing business needs while maintaining creative quality
• Can-do, solutions oriented attitude
