The Senior Director, Finance – Field Sales is a senior level position reporting to the Vice President of Worldwide Field Finance. This role is responsible for a wide range of financial projects, planning, reporting, sales commissions, process re-engineering, and business partnership with finance, sales and operations executives. The role requires the ability to work strategically, develop and implement continuous improvement, and lead change.
The preferred work location for this position is Santa Clara, Ca, however remote work locations are also an option.
Key responsibilities include:
• Establish strong partnerships with Sales Executives and Finance teams to drive effective and predictable financial planning across the company
• Manage, motivate and develop a team of talented Finance leaders
• Lead annual financial planning activities for field sales organization
• Lead bookings forecast and corresponding analytics to drive predictability and linearity of top line results
• Lead monthly financial close for field sales organization
• Monitor key performance indicators, establish quarterly business reviews and recommend solutions to achieve desired business objectives
• Partner with business transformation and operations teams to evaluate and ensure the data integrity of bookings/transactional information
• Ensure timely and accurate commission payments to sales organization of 400 employees
• Implement a robust system of controls, identify process improvement opportunities, and increase automation to support timely, complete, and accurate processing of commission payments; establish an in-depth partnership with IT to drive these projects to completion
• Lead systems, organization and efficiency improvements
• Ensure integrity and accuracy in monthly financial reporting
• Ensure and enforce system of controls and accountability in Go-to-Market activities
• Ad hoc analysis and management reporting
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and finance/business partnering skills supporting large/medium sized field sales, channel and services organizations. Ideally the candidate will have a combination of large and mid-sized company experience with a broad perspective of best practices and cultural comfort. Industry preferences include technology, software or cloud services. Significant experience with sales financial planning processes including forecasts, sales cycle, market segmentation, sales commissions, GTM coverage, budgets, flash/reporting, and pricing.
• 15+ years’ experience in financial planning and analysis at senior level
• B.A. or B.S. in Business, Finance, or Accounting; MBA or CPA is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills; ability to work with a diverse team and influence/drive change across functional and business boundaries
• Proven ability to take charge of complex tasks with minimal direction and develop new strategies and new ways of approaching business challenges independently
• Continuous improvement mindset; ability to suggest and implement best practices
• Previous finance experience in high tech is desirable
• Strong financial modeling, spreadsheet, and database skills
• Strong process orientation, project management, planning, and organization skills, including ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in computer-based analysis and complex financial modeling
• Hands-on experience using Microsoft Suite, Oracle Financials, or other planning applications
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
• Self-starter with unquestionable integrity
