Decision Support Center of Excellence (DSCOE) is responsible for providing thought leadership, financial reporting, planning, analytics, and other support to various partners including Corporate Planning and Technologies Finance LFO teams. This spans an annual expense base of $3B that impacts all global business units within American Express. The Financial Analyst will partner with the Finance Manager and others on the wider team in all these areas.
Responsibilities
• Manage system data structures, such as line of business hierarchy, for reporting and planning purposes. Act as a point of contact and liaison between the Finance teams and Systems Maintenance teams, with a strong focus on collaboration and proactive communication
• Support management of monthly internal expenses net position and associated activities
• Support management of Annual Plan and monthly Risk & Opportunity forecasts by collaborating with Tech Finance groups
• Support management of monthly results reporting, including analysis of variance drivers vs. outlook
• Create senior level management reporting on a monthly and ad hoc basis
• Provide relevant financial analytics to Tech Finance leadership to ensure achievement of financial targets, which includes budget forecasting, variance analysis, identification of risk/opportunities, and underlying cost drivers
• Evaluate current processes and innovate enhancements that increase value and drive efficiencies
• Support end to end transformational strategies that drive adoption of standard tools and best practices
• Provide ad-hoc analysis and support as needed
Qualifications
• Strong financial, analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, facilitation and presentation writing skills; Must be able to effectively communicate financial results to a non-finance audience
• Solid understanding of P&Ls, metrics, cost drivers, forecast, cost allocation and expense recovery
• Demonstrated experience synthesizing large amounts of data with the ability to draw key conclusions; Must be attentive to details
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize workload across multiple projects/issues and drive results while meeting critical deadlines
• Flexible to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity and rapid change
• Proactive team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; Strong customer focus
• Excellent skills and comfort with advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint; TM1 and Oracle knowledge a plus
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (Finance or Accounting); CPA/MBA a plus
• 2+ years of relevant Finance / Business work experience
