Job Purpose
Starting in May the Human Resources Intern will provide administrative/recruiting assistance to the department. The Intern will participate in recruitment activities, including screening resumes, conducting phone screens and onsite interviews, participating in feedback meetings, and preparing offers. In addition, the intern will provide support in various HR functional areas which include training, benefits, and performance management.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Provides administrative assistance to the HR department.
• Administers and maintains the applicant tracking system, headcount reports, organizational charts, and various tracking spreadsheets
• Coordinates various HR programs, activities and initiatives, including campus recruitment
• Coordinates the pre-employment candidate screening process, which includes background checks and drug screening.
• Coordinates training for associates.
• Answers questions regarding HR policies and procedures, payroll, and benefits.
Other duties
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Ability to work 40 hours during the summer with an opportunity to work 20-25 hours during the school year.
• Excellent oral & written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of human resources functions to include: benefits, recruitment and training.
• Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Windows/Office environment, specifically Outlook scheduling.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Associate or Bachelor level course work in human resources preferred.
• Previous experience with an applicant tracking system/recruiting preferred.
