Job Description:
At Regions, the Risk Operational Excellence Partner will lead high-performing teams responsible for the execution of initiatives and projects that improve and/or transform processes, channels, products, customer/associate experience, and other key functions at the Bank. This role utilizes process improvement methodologies, technology, organizational change management, and key banking functions/activities, specifically related to operations and operational risk management to drive operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
• Leads opportunity discovery through assessments and internal consulting engagements
• Develops and uses a prioritization methodology to identify and present senior leadership opportunities that have the greatest estimated impact to the Bank’s risk profile and present the greatest net present value (NPV)
• Develops and negotiates Statements of Work (SOWs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for each engagement that require these processes
• Plans and allocates resources to accomplish project objectives and key results
• Manages relationships with external contractors/consulting project resources
• Partners with Internal Audit and Risk Management Testing Functions to appropriately document and test new processes and procedures for enhanced risk controls
• Develops external stakeholder communication materials and presents on project effectiveness to external partners, inclusive of the Bank’s regulators
• Designs and implements new Target Operating Models catered towards emerging technology to increase operational efficiencies and reduce the Bank’s overall Risk Profile
• Partners with executive stakeholders to improve the Bank’s overall Risk profile by improving operational efficiency by leveraging technology to increase control effectiveness, reduce residual risk, enhance customer/associate experience, and improve organizational data strategy
• Coaches, mentors, and develops associates including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
• Leads employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, regular feedback, and performance development planning
• May manage overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities of team and programs/initiatives
• May work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, and hire employees with desirable experience and skillsets
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related process/quantitative focused discipline
• Seven (7) years of experience
Preferences
• Management/supervisory experience
• Management consulting experience
Certifications and Licenses
• PMP, Six Sigma Certifications preferred
Skills and Competencies
• Familiarity with Agile project management methodology
• Basic SQL, SAS, and other statistical analysis programing languages (R; Python)
• Ability to scope work with limited or ambiguous information and known as someone who displays intellectual curiosity
• Possesses business acumen with the ability to communicate with both business, IT, quantitative, and internal audit leaders
• Knowledge of process mapping and improvement strategies
• Effective communication skills through written, oral, and data visualizations
• Driven to resolve complex problems in a creative, determined, and disciplined manner
• Aptitude for fostering positive working relationships with your business partners to enhance the client experience
• Ability to create executive level communications and facilitate meetings with organizational leaders
• Ability to create regulatory communications and represent the Regions in meetings with the Bank’s regulatory partners
Additional Preferences:
• Experience with quantitative modeling (regression, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence)
• Prior "Big 4" or boutique firm consulting experience managing projects with implementation of data science techniques or application of machine learning
• Prior experience managing a team of data scientists preferred
• Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Cloudera Workbench, Docker, and/or Bamboo (preferred)
• Experience with dashboarding tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
• Intermediate SQL, SAS, and other statistical analysis programming languages (R; Python)
