Job Purpose
The Associate Product Manager will work with the Director of Product Management in defining the product line strategy and roadmap, and driving organizational alignment and project prioritization, with a focus on fixed income portfolio analytics risk and attribution software. This includes working with product management to plan the implementation of the product roadmap and work through design issues. The Product Manager is also responsible for designing the graphical user interface (GUI), work flow and user experience for existing and new products, and interacting with key stakeholders to validate designs and ensure the specifications are properly implemented.
This position will grow to include responsibility for coordinating with the sales and account manager team members to achieve higher levels of market penetration, increase revenue, and improve client retention, by using detailed knowledge of the products and its application to target market segments. Additionally, this position will provide product demonstrations and communicate key benefits and features to multiple client and prospect audiences, including end users.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in defining product line strategy and roadmap, driving organizational alignment, project prioritization and business development planning
• Work with product management to plan the implementation of the product roadmap
• Lead activities involving the design and specification of a fixed income analytic platform
• Lead product management activities focused on developing portfolio risk and attribution models and software
• Works with product management on design issues and collaborates on solutions
• Create comprehensive user-interface design and functionality/requirements specifications (mockups) on more advanced and analytic-intensive projects
• Interact with key stakeholders including customers, sales and consulting to understand and validate designs prior to programming
• Interact with programming and quality assurance departments to ensure the design and functionality/requirements specifications are properly implemented
• Adopt product development best practices to enhance interface design capabilities
• Provide product expertise and advocacy by delivering presentations to internal and external customers
• Support sales and account management activities by providing deep fixed income analytical expertise and product knowledge to achieve revenue and retention goals
• Create and maintain product demonstration portfolios, presentations and scripts for all market segments
• Assist with product marketing efforts by providing documentation, training materials and other sales support materials
• Provide internal and external product training sessions to promote enhanced functionality of products
• Ability to identify and communicate client and prospect specific requirements to Product Management
• Ability to travel as needed for on-site client and prospect visits and product training and demonstrations
Knowledge and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, finance, economics, physical science, or mathematics. Preference given to Master's degree with quantitative orientation
• 3-5 years of work experience within product development, preferably dealing with Fixed Income, and Portfolio analytics software
• Solid understanding of the investment industry
• Thorough understanding of Software Development Lifecycle
• Knowledge of and experience with user-interface software design
• Demonstrated ability of building products with strong blend of management, technical, creative, and business talent
• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders and constituents
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Must be resourceful and self-motivated
• Excellent communication skills including presentation and written abilities
• Excellent teamwork skills and sharp attention to detail
• Excellent skills in MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint
• Understanding of fixed income analytical needs of key market segments, including asset managers, insurance companies, and fixed income strategists at broker dealer firms
• Ability to apply adaptive and creative approaches for sales obstacles
