A day in your life as a Corporate Recruiter
Under the direction of the Talent Acquisition Manager, the Corporate Recruiter is responsible for the full lifecycle (e.g. opening a job requisition to hiring a new employee) recruitment process in a fast-paced, results driven environment to ensure that staffing needs are met for all departments at Bank of Hawaii. If applicable or appropriate, assists with the business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.
We’ll give you these important responsibilities…
• Partners with hiring manager(s) to understand immediate and future needs. Documents the needs (requisitions, reports, and position narratives). Sources qualified candidates, screens resumes, interviews and assesses candidates, provides input into and manages the decisions making process. Adds value by screening initial candidates for company fit, department fit, salary expectations, position requirements, etc. Ensures all hiring managers utilize behavioral based selection methodology when evaluating applicants. Prioritizes candidates based on qualifications. Extends verbal offers and sends written offers to candidates.
• Formulates responsive recruiting strategies and proactively identifies effective sources or other creative techniques to identify the best slates of candidates in a timely and cost effective manner. Executes recruitment strategy by utilizing sourcing methods such as employee referrals, internal posting program, internet search engines, community organizations, college recruitment, job fairs, print advertising, and resume databases. Coordinates on and off-site recruitment activities when necessary. Represents the Bank at job fairs, college campuses, community organizations, etc.
• Creates staffing plans by working closely with hiring managers and HR Business Partners to identify specific staffing needs based on organizational direction. Provides information/training for staff/managers as appropriate via individual interactions/group facilitation for interviewing and selecting qualified candidates. Provides career counseling to BOH staff.
• Ensures systems and databases are accurately maintained in support of monthly/quarterly metric reporting. Collaborates with other HR disciplines (Compensation, Benefits, etc.) to ensure all information on the hire is accurate and adheres to company policy. Monitors employment laws and policies, hiring processes, and makes recommendations for change as needed.
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
• Strong background in recruiting professional positions, primarily Information Technology professionals.
• Must have good knowledge of technical positions, employment law and EEO/AA policies.
• Requires good working knowledge of standard relocation/temporary living practices and tax laws.
• Banking/financial services industry experience strongly preferred.
• Minimally 1-2 years staffing/recruiting or related HR experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or similar software.
• Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
• Experience using Recruiting Systems (Taleo), and HRMS systems (Lawson software) helpful.
• Demonstrated written and oral communications skills to conduct informal and formal 1:1 and group meetings and make presentations.
• Experience at reviewing and writing technical job descriptions preferred.
• Must be analytical, detail oriented and organized.
• Must have high level of emotional intelligence, sharp instincts and solid judgement.
• Able to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
• Must be able to explain complex ideas clearly and succinctly.
• Must possess superior interpersonal skills, as well as a collaborative management style to include teamwork, team building, conflict management, negotiating and problem solving skills.
• Able to work effectively with all types and levels of employees, management, applicants, students, etc.
• Must be a self-starter, who can work with minimal supervision.
• Able to work evenings, weekends on occasion and holidays, as necessary and assigned.
• Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license, and commute as required.
• Able to travel by air as required.
• Must be able to push/lift/move recruiting materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
