The Senior Employee Relations Specialist The Senior Employee Relations Specialist is primarily responsible for providing support in all areas of employee relations via the Employee Resource Center; aligning Human Resource strategies with federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations; providing support to employees and managers to bring concerns to closure while protecting the interests of the organization and individual employees. The Senior Employee Relations Specialist also supports objectives of other Human Resources teams and works closely with the Human Resources Business Partners.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Establish and maintain good working relationships with managers. Provide advice and in depth counsel to management across BOKF footprint on employee issues. Ensure compliance with BOKF Human Resources Policy and Procedures, and legal requirements by helping management understand their HR risks and how to effectively manage them. Interpret policy and procedures consistently and objectively.
2. Provide in depth counseling and coaching to employees on work situations, management/employee conflict, peer relations, and allegations of discriminatory practices. Counsel employees in disciplinary or personal issues. Assist in escalated employee relations issues and conduct high level investigations as needed.
3. Perform internal audit/investigations of employee relations issues, complaints, and disputes; makes recommendation for resolutions. Facilitate and mediate employee/management disputes. Provide reporting and analysis to detect trends and work with ER management team on recommendations.
4. Provide regular status updates to employees and managers, maintains employee/manager contact until request is resolved and case has been closed. Maintain appropriate records/files of investigations.
5. Participate in the termination process by identifying opportunities and areas of concern requiring follow up.
6. Employee Relations specific duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• In-depth knowledge of relevant human resources governmental/regulatory requirements (EEO, ADA, wage and hour)
• In-depth knowledge of human resources principles and practices
• In-depth knowledge of employee relations issues and talent management
• Advanced knowledge of payroll, benefits, compensation, training
• Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills
• Excellent PC skills including knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Ability to handle sensitive issues and alert management to potential liability and supervisory/managerial issues
• Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of employees
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business related field or Human Resources and 5-7 years experience in human resources, employee relations or business related experiences or 8 years human resources or business related experience.
