A DAY IN THE LIFE
In this role, you will…
• Demonstrate deep and broad product knowledge.
• Write and maintain the revision history of the detailed functional specifications for each feature set throughout the development cycle, using input from business stakeholders, partner organizations, the software development team, and Quality Assurance team.
• Identify the functional definitions of the system, complete with workflow; impacts to existing applications; and navigation
• Design user interface mockups, visual models, charts, flow diagrams and other specification components
• Conducts analytical review meetings as required with business stakeholders and domain experts to acquire the details to write functional specifications
• Facilitates the clarification of functional specification issues as they arise during the development process
• Ensures accuracy, completeness, and clarity of functional specifications
• Presents functional specifications to internal stakeholders
• Works on multiple specifications and/or specifications for complex features
• In cases where business requirements or scope documents are not provided, gathers business requirements from the appropriate sources
• Follows the standard development process to make the best use of limited resources (time, money, people) resulting in a stable, maintainable product that meets user requirements
• Accomplishes all of the above in accordance with standard procedures
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
WHO YOU ARE
You possess …
• Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent work experience
• 4+ years of related work experience
• Strong analytical skills; strong attention to detail
• Strong verbal and excellent written communication skills
• Excellent project management and time management skills
• Strong ability to build consensus; ability to influence others
• Experience with all aspects of the System Development Lifecycle; knowledge of successful software development methodologies and best practices
• Ability to solve problems across domains (business, functional, technical, and operational)
• Demonstrated ability to create and maintain large sets of documentation; a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Word or other documentation tools; knowledge of HTML and HTML editing tools a plus.
• The ability to handle change and ambiguity
• Effective in a fast paced environment
• Collaborative/enjoys working in teams
• Self-starter/motivator
• The ability to multi-task
