The accounting firm of Wipfli/Macpage is seeking a Senior Financial Accounting Consultant to work out of the South Portland, ME office and to lead and manage outsourced accounting engagements for clients inside and outside the firm’s geographic footprint. This individual will establish and maintain valuable client relationships with assigned clients in our Financial Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) service line.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage assigned client service engagements
• Superior ability to prioritize and focus in a high-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Ability to quickly learn and use new technology software applications
• Establish valuable client relationships through continuous touch points and delivery of ongoing proactive advisory services
• Overall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy and on-time processing of client information
• Prepare bank and other balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare monthly financial statements for clients, including analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Prepare budgeting and cash flow projection projects for clients
• Provide advice on improved financial reporting and review general ledger for overall accuracy
• Provide assistance to client staff relating to client’s back office services
• Assist client with compliance areas associated with back office services
• Implement client best practices to overcome challenges, minimize risk and improve overall operations
• Demonstrate ability to estimate and manage work assignments to budget
• Provide team leadership, direction, mentoring and engagement supervision
• Contribute to overall FAO client and team success through sharing ideas, enthusiasm and strong work ethics
• Pursue advancement in technical back office service capabilities as well as advancement in “soft skill” competencies
• Assist with client onboarding projects as needed to ensure a smooth client transition onto Wipfli’s back office accounting services
Qualifications
• Related experience in private or public accounting for a minimum of 3-5 years
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, Master’s Degree in related field preferred
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Some local travel to clients in the area required
• Strong technology skills with accounting software, such as QuickBooks and Intacct
• Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office 2007 or later (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook at a minimum, more applications preferred)
• Experience working in a paperless environment strongly preferred
• Management and/or mentoring experience of other staff members preferred
• Experience presenting and/or making recommendations to business executives preferred
• Project management experience a plus
