In Lending Services, we document and fund all loans for First Republic. We’re responsible for servicing bank and investor loan portfolios, as well as responding to client and loan team inquiries. The team also supports sales staff in workflow processes, product development, training and compliance. Additionally, we support lending-based systems and vendors and manage technology projects across First Republic product lines.
The secondary marketing group within The Lending Strategy, Product & Sales Department establishes and maintains relationships with institutional buyers of residential and commercial loans, executes loan trades, generates structured finance opportunities, monitors the mortgage market, provides input for daily loan rates, and sources liquidity for new loan products. The primary focus of this Analyst position will be to support the commercial real estate loan sales platform with secondary duties supporting the sales of other loan asset classes that may include residential loans, construction loans, student loans, and business banking capital call lines.
Responsibilities
What you'll do as a Secondary Marketing Analyst:
• Assist in on-going investor relationship management and new business development efforts
• Maintain and develop analyses pertaining to the loan portfolio
• Analyze comprehensive loan approval packages to identify loans eligible for sale.
• Analyze investor underwriting guidelines to identify opportunities for loan sales.
• Provide timely delivery of formalized reports in addition to ad-hoc reports and analysis
• Disseminate relevant financial news and market color to the department, Loan Teams and other bank employees
• Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgement while displaying a high degree of initiative and accuracy.
• Enhance existing processes through efficiencies such as sourcing improvements, automation, and migration to production solutions
• Develop detailed documentation of processes and procedures pertaining to operational functions
• Assist with any and all projects as needed for the Department (i.e. software implementation, changes to loan programs, and departmental changes due to regulatory requirements) when necessary
• Perform duties & responsibilities specific to department functions & activities
• Performs other duties & responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor
• Additional responsibilities include: (1) adhering to and complying with the applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.) (2) Adhering to bank policies and procedures, (3) completing required training, (4) identifying and reporting suspicious activity to the AML Officer, and (5) knowing and verifying the identity of any customer(s) that enters into a relationship with the Bank.
Qualifications
What skills you will use:
• Bachelor’s degree required, emphasis in Business, Economics, Finance is a plus but not required
• Familiarity with mortgage lending or banking environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
• Aptitude for detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
• Ability to summarize complex business problems for different audience levels with clarity and brevity
• Adept at working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• 2-4 years of applicable work experience
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products
Physical Requirements:
• The ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions; understand the meanings of words and respond effectively; and preform basic arithmetic accurately and correctly
• Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals, and computer screens
• Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone call and in person
• Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions
• Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
• Must be able to travel in a limited capacity
• May be required to lift 25-50lbs
