Job Description
The DTC (Direct to Consumer) Data Analyst & Manager will take the lead on the maintenance and analysis of data related to the Direct to Consumer business at John Hancock. The maintenance of data includes the cleaning, compilation, analysis and pulling of reports as necessary to support analytics, communications, client acquisition, and the day-to-day operations of the organization. The DTC Data Analyst & Manager will work closely with business stakeholders and other development teams to gather/understand current system architecture and help formulate strategic builds to optimize and maintain the data environment. In addition , the incumbent will be leading the analysis on all marketing campaigns and sales reporting by providing insights into campaign level performance. Actively helping the Head of Product and Pricing and the Director of Acquisition Marketing, this person will provide in depth analysis on the sales process from lead generation to a placed policy. The key focus area will be on the Marketing and Analytics platform – requiring strong analytical skills and strong communication skills to be able to identify and explain trends and recommend changes in tactics.
Individual Responsibilities:
• Working closely with internal and external partners to ensure the correct standardization, processes and controls for ingesting data are in place across multiple systems.
• Responsible for the health of the data and managing upstream/downstream processes of data and linkages;
• Troubleshooting any issues and/or errors by identifying the source of the error by working with various partners including internal JH Data ware houses and data from external sources
• Resolving any data integrity issues are resolved in a timely manner by taking responsibility for the execution of steps to fix the error
• Manage any enhancements to the data infrastructure by ensuring that all key stakeholders are held accountable and delivering on requirements in a timely manner
• Lead initiatives to integrate new data sources/feeds into the DTC database. (e.g. if a new product is launched, ensuring that the back-end processing of the new product will be connected to the database feeds properly)
• Ensure that the DTC Database enhancements are aligned with DTC strategy by anticipating the reporting needs of the business and proactively leading
• Collaborate with the JH Insurance Advanced Analytics team to identify sources of data to be used to enhance models and tools to improve marketing performance
• Develop Business Intelligence capabilities across JH DTC
• Assist in the aggregation, proofing and dissemination of reports on sales and marketing activity.
• Work in Partnership with DTC Marketing Team to identify marketing efficiencies and lower cost per acquisition
• Lead analysis on marketing campaign performance to ensure that the right audiences are being reached and that leads are progressing through the sales process
• Identify trends in customer experience throughout the sales process and monitor drop off to ensure the proper amount of leads are being converted to customers
• Pinpoint leaks in the sales process and recommend enhancements to reduce drop off
• Assist in the setting of budget for marketing tests by providing projections of performance to management; report on the results of such testing and provide recommended future course of action
• Provide insights to JH Insurance Product and Pricing teams during the development of new products by analyzing current product performance
• Lead the development of analysis or reporting for any DTC strategic partnerships that many arise
• Develop quarterly KPI reports and commentary for senior management
Job Requirements
• 5 to 7 years of experience in either database management or data analytics
• Manipulate, condense, and make-sense of large volumes of data to drive actionable business decisions.
• Experience with and proven ability to successfully work in a matrixed organization with strong dotted line relationships across functions and consultants
• Ability to quickly respond to client requests and proactively anticipate needs
• Creative thinker with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize requests with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to balance taking the lead in database implementation discussions and internal detail-oriented data analytics
• Experience building capabilities in a fast-changing business/start-up environment where priorities are changing rapidly
• Demonstrated strong business acumen with the leadership and functional ability to meet business process and capability requirements
• Superb project management skills and ability to juggle multiple client needs
• Outstanding communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
• Demonstrated proficiencies with database and analysis tools (Tableau, SQL, Excel)
