Data Governance Director
Reporting to the Global Director of Data Governance and Business Process in the Information Services Division (“ISD”) of the London Stock Exchange Group (“LSEG”), this Data Governance Director role will be skilled at leading and managing people, processes and technology efficiently so that LSEG can activate and implement the Enterprise Data Governance Program.
Within the Chief Data Office (CDO), the Data Governance and Business Process function develops and implements a framework of policies, standards and operational procedures that help the organization continuously improve its data management capabilities, so that LSEG produces better products for higher prices with lower costs.
The activation of data governance is a continuous, best-in-class program and set of processes that ensure efficient operations and excellent product quality. The need for Data Governance is driven by management and post-merger integration challenges, critical protection of the LSEG brand, increasing levels of regulatory oversight and risk, continuous product innovation, and a dynamic and volatile market environment with many emerging threats and disruptions.
The main purpose of this position is to manage the newly-formed data governance team with the design, development and implementation of the data governance framework, policy, standards, procedures, processes and corresponding operations.
The Data Governance Director will lead, drive, implement and manage a large amount of change to reduce costs and risks, to increase efficiencies and to improve products. The role will also serve as an educator to LSEG for data governance and business process.

Key Responsibilities:
• Establish, govern and lead an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information product-based capabilities for LSEG
• Lead the roll out an enterprise wide data governance framework and Data Governance Assessment and management framework, using the Data Development Lifecycle (DDLC), with a focus on improvement of data management and quality
• Ability to lead and manage staff at various levels including responsibilities to on-board, train, educate, mentor, and off-board, as necessary
• Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of LSEG’s principal data and information assets
• Lead and execute the DDLC methodology, and coordinate with other internal processes
• Serve as a senior management liaison between various functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
• Develop, lead, manage and execute education and training activities related to the Enterprise Data Governance Program
• Develop and maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems and owners as part of the Policy Framework
• Development partnerships within the Chief Data Officer functional areas to ensure efficient and effective changes and other operational elements including clear dependencies and touch-points
• Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise
• Lead definition of indicators of performance and governance quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements
• As needed, provide progress reports to management and oversees periodic updates to the Data Governance Roadmap and other planning materials
• Detailed understanding and experience with ability to manage Enterprise assets including Business Data Dictionaries, Glossaries and Catalogs for use within LSEG, as needed
• Lead the development and implementation of the framework to designate Critical Data Elements (CDEs) in a central Repository and associated business processes
• Manage and lead CDO Dashboard Reporting to support ISD and Group Level Reporting requirements.
• Act as a Senior Leader and Subject Matter Expert on Data Governance and its key principles while using industry best practices to improve efficiencies and product improvements
Key Behaviors and Skills Required to be successful in the Role
Working Experience
• Adequate years of experience in a major services organization, with data or project management and oversight experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and management of strategic and tactical data management initiatives in a complex business structure
• In-depth knowledge of data governance industry best practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise data assets and approaches related to data protection.
• Excellent understanding of business architecture, business process re-engineering and business process flows
• In-depth knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
• Demonstrated business and IT consulting skills, with change management and business process concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design
• Knowledge of industry best practices, market and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standards, and other governing bodies relevant to the role
• Detailed knowledge and experience working with relational databases, entity relationship data-modeling tools and concepts, data integration tools, data warehousing and other related data management trends.
• Experience with the risk management of data architecture and technology solutions
• Comprehensive knowledge of the documentation and management of issues related to data governance.
Education
• Bachelors or master’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Management or Information Sciences
• Data Quality, Management, IT, Data Science or Governance training or other relevant Certifications
