Group Billing Specialist

In this role you will support the processing of group billing and payments working along with providing support to team members and handling escalations issues.
• Process a variety of group billing, premium, and file maintenance transactions to apply and reverse premiums, process mode changes, cancellations, lapses, and other transactions as relates to billing and collection.
• Respond to complex inquiries from a variety of customers. Recognize that each customer group (agents, brokers, payroll centers, policyholders, internal audit/compliance) has a different level of understand of the product and respond accordingly.
• Research and resolve complex suspense items under assigned desk code for reconciliation purposes, report total out-of-standard suspense items weekly.
• Work closely with Accounting Operations team to clear all out-of-standard suspense items.
• Serve as subject matter expert for escalations and third tier support.
• Maintain accurate, well-documented case files.
• Analyze non-routine problems and communicate effectively by telephone, letter, or email with agents, policyholders, payroll centers, and employees of other sections and departments.
• Organize and facilitate project meetings as required.
• Work with other resources, IT, consultants, vendors, and other internal and external parties to meet established goals and objectives.
• Perform some project activities such as assisting with scope and deliverable definition, project team formation, planning and scheduling, resource and cost assessments, communication, and issue monitoring and management.
Requirements:
Education/Experience:
• Position requires a college degree & 2-4 years insurance experience or; Finance/Accounting majors preferred.
• High school diploma or GED with 3-5 years of insurance experience.
• Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills highly preferred).
• Knowledge of general accounting functions in SAP
• Exceptional knowledge of Policy Administration and Life Insurance principal and products
• Must have excellent business and mathematical skills
• Demonstrates exceptional proficiency of spreadsheets, databases, applications and usage including companies standard PC applications
• Strong oral and written communication skills and customer service technique.
• Ability to use sound judgment and make decisions. Must have initiative to take responsibility for work assigned and complete it with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills. Ability to interact with other team members, external customers, agents and management in a professional manner.
