This position offers an excellent and challenging opportunity to manage and operate an in-house catastrophe model used to help manage the risk in our P&C business. The role consists of a large variety of responsibilities including standard and ad-hoc work, model development, performing model runs, creating analysis related to catastrophe risk and communicating to executives.
Job Responsibilities
Provide direction and experience as part of a team whose primary responsibilities are:
• Catastrophe risk management, including performing analyses using the custom internal catastrophe model, and monitoring and analyzing changes in the risk profile of the inventory insurance program
• Supporting initiatives to expand the capability and use of the catastrophe model and oversee any model updates including coordination with vendors, IT, and Model Risk Management
• Reporting analysis and results of the Catastrophe Model to the Underwriting Committee and senior leaders
• Contributing analysis and documentation related to catastrophe risk for the AM Best submission, the internal Capital Model and the XoL Reinsurance program placement
• Identifying and implementing process improvements in the model and analyses
• Support/Perform Capital Model analyses on an adhoc basis including activities such as sensitivity analysis, model performance etc.
Qualifications
• Degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in running or developing models
• Strong communication, relationship building skills
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and easily adjust priorities as necessary and appropriate
• High level of problem solving capability and research-oriented skills
• Competency with one or more of the following modeling tools: SAS, R, SQL, or similar
• Proficiency with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
